He was nominated in 2014 for scoring The Theory of Everything and was the favorite going into the ceremony but lost to Alexandre Desplat's brilliant work in The Grand Budapest Hotel. I was stoked to be wrong on that one, even though I thought Johannsson's score was good.
Haha I haven't seen the movie so I was just curious. But if you're saying the band Fireworks are bad and overrated then your music taste is not as good as I thought it was.
I just remembered, he's also re-teaming with Denis Villeneuve to score Blade Runner 2049. Really looking forward to what he does there.
Jackie and Moonlight were my favorite scores. La La Land's was delightful as well. It's criminal that Popstar and Sing Street didn't get original song nominations.
Seriously. Also I've seen a ton of general Popstar hate on Chorus and that makes me a sad panda. Would've loved for the Lonely Island guys to be back performing at the Oscars again.
My music taste *is* pretty bad, you shoulda heard the shit I was listening to earlier today. Remix after remix of pop dance songs. But I will die on that Fireworks are pretty mediocre pop-punk hill. ;) (I'm just poking buttons for fun. I just never got that band at all, im the odd one out.)
Movie studios need to make more diverse stories and continue to ensure the teams that make them are also diverse. If that trend continues. There will be more diverse nominees and in turn more diverse winners. I do agree that a statement about non-white directors streak continuing is racist. But I think there is enough context in all the posts that show the statement wasn't made without context. So glad la la land didn't "snatch" the Oscar from moonlight. I think Oakland would have burned to the ground. Ha
To be fair we don't even need to divide the acting awards into genders if we are really heading down these roads
I think my top flick was arrival. Not because it was the best but because I love the director and it was a great sci flick. #oppositeofpassengers
Haha it's very interesting to me because I thought you would've really liked them. I think they're one of the best in the scene in the past 10 years. (I'm also drunk and about to sleep. But I'd love to have a bigger discussion about this sometime when sober haha)
Your point has been noted and addressed. If you're not willing to accept that I dunno what to tell you. I didn't invent the rhetoric, I just adopt it in order to communicate more effectively.
Oh man the last Fireworks album was great. They were definitely overrated before that, but they took a big leap with that one.
Takes a deep troll breath. (I've zoned out the last thirty minutes of this movie, I shouldn't be on my website.) Was that leap into more whiny nasal vocals over mediocre and derivative music but cause they down tuned people called it deep?
