If you want to win Best Actress, it really, really helps to be a white ingenue.

2004 was the last time the same film won Best Picture and Best Actress.

So it's between La La Land, Moonlight, or Manchester by the Sea.

    Harumph

He only had a few acting roles that involved playing himself, but I was hoping (not expecting) that'd have been enough to squeeze Muhammed Ali into the in memoriam reel.

Only saw Hell or High Water, Fences, La La Land, Manchester, and Arrival. I think I liked Fences the most.

So I was 16/24. This was my worst year ever since I started making picks. A far cry from my 22/24 showing from 2012, still my PB. Glad Barry Jenkins and Kenneth Lonergan won the screenplay awards. Pissed about some of the dumb picks I made that I should've gotten (Makeup & Hairstyling, Doc Short, Sound Editing, Best Actor). And Moonlight deserved Best Picture, but oh well. It's not the Academy's way to give Best Picture to the best film among the nominees.

Sucks that the fall/winter is so far away. We've got a lot of sewage to sift through until then.
