The older I get the more I consider this an incredibly stupid and offensive event. If an industry wants to give each other awards that seems fine but is it necessary to be so pompous? Did I just watch Kimmel parade non-celebrities dressed in everyday clothes through the crowd of celebrities dressed in clothes that could pay off a mortgage?

I haven't watch much of this and I can't stand to watch more, but in all the heartfelt speeches regarding equal treatment and anti-oppression has anyone addressed Casey Affleck degrading and sexually harassing women alongside great success and embrace in the industry?

    I'll leave now, sorry.

To give Hacksaw Ridge some credit, it sets itself up to be a lame faith-based inspirational film about a 7th Day Adventist who stands up against authority to protect his religious beliefs. And the the second half rivals any Quentin Tarantino film in terms of carnage. Seriously, a U.S. serviceman picks up the top half of a disembodied fallen soldier to use as a shield against oncoming bullets while the poor corpse's intestines are hanging underneath.

I'm pretty cool never giving Mel Gibson credit ever for anything but that's just me.

Yep. All in a movie about a guy who disavowed violence. Gibson is addicted to violence and loves it and can't make a film about a pacifist without blindly relishing in the thing his protagonist stood against.

Hacksaw Ridge is also a gleefully racist and xenophobic movie too. Gibson has talent but produces garbage.

No matter what personally people think of Mel Gibson. The man can direct a film. Apocalypto is one the best things I've ever seen

I know I'm very ignorant in this area and don't want to research it all now, but what all has Mel done that makes everyone hate him so much? Honestly asking.

Drunk driving arrest 10 years ago which resulted in an anti-semitic rant, years later verbally abusive to his now ex-wife that was caught on tape, suggest she be raped by a pack of n-words.

Thanks. That's some awful shit. Now that you mention it some of that rings a bell, I guess I just somehow never paid too much attention to him/it.

Thanks for that info. I knew he was hated but never really searched out why.

But in other news, The White Helmets is an awesome doc. Go watch it.
