I enjoyed hacksaw but it would be near the bottom for me out of the 9. Moonlight is easily the best of the choices with Manchester behind that.
Let it be known though that if the Academy didn't mess up so bad and overlook Nice Guys, it should win Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Screenplay and Best Editing
Moonlight is such a good watch, but man is it a depressing movie and I don't see it getting may re watches because of it. Don't you think Best Pic can stand up to multiple viewings? And this is random, but if there were a category for best Movie Poster I think Moonlight should win.

if Denzel wins the Oscar I'm taking credit for posting in here that he had a chance when others shot me down!!! I kid, I kid this is all in good fun in discussing the semi-meaningless statues given to millionaires. Was very happy to see Denzel win the SAG though. I literally jumped out of bed. Real interesting shakeup tho
Moonlight and Manchester by the Sea are remarkable. The others have merits, I like most of them fine enough, but wouldn't call them the best in the year in film. Even though I like them all well enough. Except Hacksaw Ridge, which does some things well but as a whole doesn't examine itself to the extent it could have that might have made it a standout.

Best Effects over Jungle Book? That is ground breaking though. I'd love for another comic book win though..... And I'll say again that what they did with Killer Croc should give SS the win for makeup, no matter how you feel about the actual movie.
Truthfully I did all those picks without too much thought, and started out trying to just name one for each, then that was too hard, so I listed more, but didn't want to list too many, so I arbitrarily left a few off in deserving categories and likely forgot a few.
I think that the visuals in The Jungle Book were incredible, but I'm always biased toward integration of CGI and practical effects. Plus I'd love for Marvel to win an Oscar, especially for Doctor Strange, which just had such excellent effects in general. Very unique. I just think Star Trek Beyond is a better film and don't want Suicide Squad to win, honestly. Plus I don't think the person who gave Jared Leto those idiotic tattoos should be rewarded for it.
Well I don't know if the same make up person did everyone in the movie, but if they did then yeah they deserve it because everyone else looked great.....
I figured. I just saw you enjoyed The Lobster (at least more than a lot of other people I've seen on here) so I figured you would've shouted out the screenplay.
Star Trek was pretty boring, but yep better than SS. You're honestly against hating SS is funny, but that artist was just doing what they were told to do lol.
Unless you think bad movies should win awards. But I get it, the makeup people did what they were told and largely did a pretty good job, even if the designs were fucking atrocious. Regardless, the Oscars are supposed to represent the best in film, in which case, I don't think there's any defense of Suicide Squad winning anything. Unless your defense is "bad movies win Oscars all the time", which is true and there's not much of an argument against that.
I just didn't like it and didn't think it was particularly well-made at all. It had some flashy makeup for sure but the Joker is unforgivable, in my opinion.
