Dinklage is the only American in the Game of Thrones cast (fellow NJ native, same as both myself and George R. R. Martin). Kind of crazy.
I mean I did love the past season of Thrones a lot but eh. Not their best season still and not the best in the category. Not mad about it though.
I don't watch GoT so I won't bash it, but I would have loved to see Mr Robot win. I got to see Tatiana win though and that's what I wanted to see more than anything since Orphan Black is my personal favorite show on TV so I'm happy.
Unrelated, but if FX submits Atlanta as a comedy next year I will be very disappointed in them. Unsurprised, but disappointed.
Highlights were seeing Rami, Tatiana, Kate McKinnon, and Sterling K Brown win. Alot of other stuff was kind of obvious.
Yep, I believe the rule is that half of the season's episodes need to be aired by the end of May and GoT isn't coming back until the summer. Season 7 won't be eligible until the 2018 Emmys.
That's what I thought, thank you! I know they're filming now, so I think it'll be interesting to see if they do make any sort of push to get the season out before the cut off.
I find that extremely unlikely, though I've only seen the pilot, admittedly. I kind of hated it, though. And I loved Eastbound. I'm sure it got better but I can't fathom it getting THAT much better.
That'll never happen, it's just going to go to Veep again every year until it ends. The Emmy voters always like to nominate interesting, deserving programs but then actually give the award to the same people over and over and over and over again, whether they deserve it or not (see: Jim fucking Parsons, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, Maggie Smith, etc. and that's only in the last decade). And don't get me wrong, I love Veep and I also love Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, it's just that there are lots of other actresses and shows that deserve some recognition as well.
I can see you haven't been following this thread all night so I'll just say, no, obviously I was not saying that and no sane person would ever say that. Not that that should have to be said. Five years in a row, though? Yeah, that's a bit much.
Yeah I've only read the last couple pages oops. I see where you're coming from but I still think she's been deserving every year. I guess it's sort of similar to the MVP/best player debates in sports. This would be like if Mike Trout won the MVP the last five years.
Of course she is deserving, as is the show. But when other people and shows are also deserving (Silicon Valley, Master of None, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Ellie Kemper), it gets to be a little much.
It certainly was a big enough phenomenon that it could have legs next year, just like Mr. Robot had legs and was remembered from all the way back in summer 2015. It's going to be tough to break into that category, though, although there will be an open slot with Downton Abbey ending. It's going to have some new series to compete with for it, however, including Westworld, which looks incredible.
