It’s not catchy in a traditional sense. It’s a lot of “noise” or an onslaught of intensity...how you react to that will ultimately determine how you feel about it. I find myself singing the hook despite the nature of the song.
Right? Like, what a stretch of songs. Also showed the versatility of the band. My moms hooking, she’s a big fan of the 80s pop and post punk music (she’s the reason I enjoy The Cure!) so she loves this music
So Greta just arrived in NY Harbor on her sailboat and she probably has about 30 boats to greet her. Legend. Edit: Trying to get a good pic of the boat, but she’s way off in the distance still.
Ha People got played on a punk show of a radio station here in Oz last night. A few songs after Bad Religion and a few songs before Stray from the path haha
Was excited to get one of their “upcycled” shirts where they’re printing over old inventory, but apparently they have zero stock of large black shirts. It says “sold out” but I wonder how many they actually sold before they ran out. I know it’s one of the more common sizes. Oh well.
This is so good!! I'm almost as excited for the next round of longform interviews as I am for new music :)
Yikes. Hope he handles it better than in the past. This kinda situation must be tough when you’re touring and have no time for yourself
She’s completely disappeared from all of his social stuff and for months leading up to the single she was everywhere. He done fucked up.
Their stuff runs small and shrinks pretty quickly. I ended up having to retire the song title tees from ILWYS that I bought. And I wash my clothes in cold water and low heat. So unless you’re barely a large sizing up wouldn’t hurt.
listen, im not some old guy whose lost touch, im 28 and a massive fan of the band. but this song, is just ridiculously stupid in my opinion. theres just no rhyme or reason for it. its 3 minutes of loud wailing nonsense. between the music and this video with the halloween costumes, its the weirdest move ive ever seen by a successful band. i just flat out dont get what theyre going for here.
Whilst it’s extremely jarring to go from their older material to People, I think the song itself is wicked. I don’t see myself listening to it for a while now though, as I’m far too aware of the February album release date and I’m notoriously bad at overplaying singles. I don’t want to be bored of it by the time the album eventually comes out and end up skipping it a load. I’m already a little tired of it as it is, so I’m cutting myself off.
I mean there’s obviously reasoning for it, most of which has been extensively discussed here and by the band itself. You don’t have to look that far for an explanation of what’s going on in the song and why.
They definitely could have gone weirder with the song. Like threw a breakdown in there instead of going back to the chorus. They went easy on ya pops
Like the end of money or something. I think as an opening song, it makes sense to make it short and simple the way it is
