I'll agree on that if you remove Three Cheers from the equation. Three Cheers is in a league of it's own.
It's definitely not a 1 to 1 comparison but if people are saying this sounds like MCR (which I don't hear, maybe just the vibe), I think the vibe is closer to The Used lol If it makes it easier, I don't really think it sounds like the used or MCR
I still dig the first few MCR records but I started this month nearly exclusively listening to the first two records by The Used. I also have always preferred Bert’s vocals.
The chorus is more mcr and verses are more used. And no used album is as good as any mcr ones as much as I like some used albums
Take It Away still slaps and The Taste of Ink and Buried Myself Alive Maybe I should re-listen to The Used
To be fair, this has kinda always been my leanings. I think if you’d asked me back in like 04-06 I would’ve said the same. I think MCR is the more technically gifted band and maybe The Used never came close to accomplishing anything that had the sheer scope of vision of TBP, but I just gel more with The Used’s sound overall.
I listened to The Used first album yesterday for the first time in a long time not knowing this song/thread. And no, there is not 1 Used album better than at least the 2 middle MCR records. Also: Totally caught off guard by People when I listened this morning. Its good though. Also:: I need to spend more time with A Brief Inquiry as I barely have listened to it at all.
This. Every lead single has been a pretty jarring “woah” ...but this one was exponentially more unexpected.
The Used s/t > Three Cheers > Black Parade > In Love and Death > Danger Days > Lies for the Liars > Artwork > I Brought You My Bullets > Imaginary Enemy > Vulnerable > The Canyon
Wow, Steve...you actually listened to ALL of the used albums? I stopped trying after Artwork (which I thought was okay). I don’t like a single note that’s come out of Gerard’s mouth so it’s a moot debate for me. I do have some love the used...just bummed that they fell off so hard.
I just keep holding on hope that they'll come out with something great again. "Over and Over Again" is really great but the rest of the album is trash. So that little bit of hope they led with for the album just tricked me
