I mean May till Feb. isn’t a small shift, though. It’s also not the first time they’ve done something similar. I mean it’s great to respect them for being forthcoming and not as “plastic” as others but if all of those sentiments turn into pipe dreams and misrepresented sentiments, how are we not to call that “plastic” or disingenuous as the typical pop outfit playing by the numbers? Additionally, why can I not “laugh” or eye roll at all of his promo statements any more or less than someone can laugh or eye roll at how I feel about them?
And? It’s a pretty substantial amount of time. To promote yourself as this cutting edge band that’s changing the way records are made and reap the benefits of additional press/acclaim regarding that and then just flake on your entire mission statement seems like an egregious move. The record will come and it will kick ass, but again, the execution was hackneyed at best.
The fact you care about this is what I think most of us find weird. They’re making shit, it’s taking longer. So? Why is that anything worth getting this upset over. Either they release it before it’s done to fit a timeline they talked about wanting to hit and couldn’t, or they wait and do what the art dictates. Seems like an easy answer and a clown thing to throw a fit about.
I can’t fathom throwing a temper tantrum because an artist decided to take more time to perfect their vision and art and thinking you have the moral high ground. I’m outttttt.
I'd probably care more about the "delay," if we can even call it that, if they hadn't literally released an album last November.
Well that was a ride to read through. I'm stuck with confusion. Anyway, I'm glad they didn't rush the album. I want to hear the songs how they're intended rather than a rushed product that would disappoint the band and the fans.
Agreed wholeheartedly...until they blew smoke up everyone’s ass during a promotional shit storm of grandiose proportions. Part of the initial allure for me at least (beyond the music) was the sheer audacity and spectacle of the MFC premise - one that didn’t come to fruition the way it was sold to the fan base. I don’t disagree with anyone that they can take as long as they need to get it right, or that the other just came out so to be all to upset is a bit much; my initial sentiments/feelings are (only) directly in response to the belief that you should stay true to your word and that if you aren’t able to cash the checks your mouth is writing, save the ongoing charade to yourself until you are. People may think Papa Callahan raised me on some bullshit value structure but I would (and do) feel the same exact way about any other human being, artist or not, in any other instance. On a final note, I also wholeheartedly believe fans have a stake in the art - one way or another - and are entitled to any which way they feel (own your power!) ridiculous or not. I can absolutely think someone is filled to the eyeballs with their own bullshit but still respect and support their art - again, with no true bearing (or expectation for there to be) on them or anyone else who feels differently. I ran out of Big Brother, but Shane Falco is on TV so goodnight and good luck fam.
zzzzzzz (but really, I'm glad that unlike a few people on here I seemed to take their initial claims with a grain of salt. I always hoped another album would be out when they said it would be, because of course I would, but I'm not upset that it isn't; particularly because they HAVE been upfront about the progress.)
...but I found it interesting? I don’t know what you want me to say; we fundamentally disagree on a fan’s relationship/role in and with a band’s art. I find your stance equally as perplexing. I just did it with a bit more decorum. Also - jason has banned me a few times - some for legitimate reasons, but to implore him to for having a contrary viewpoint is incredibly lame. For shame!
and no, fans don't have a stake in someone else's art. I believe fans can feel disrespected, but I just don't understand that feeling in this band's case. I'd argue the complete opposite, honestly.
I’m listening to their discography a bit dumbfounded that we’re going to get a 22 track album by February. Yes, I find it frustrating in a more general sense that most things Jamie says to be true don’t pan out that way, but I’m also just burnt out reading into the band’s tweets the way I usually do. That’s on me, for the most part. It’ll come. I’ll be excited when it does. ‘til then I’m just like...eh, about the whole hype right now.
What the hell happened here?? Looks like @Jusscali needs to log off for a bit and get his priorities in order because IMAGINE being this mad that a band you like are on their own timetable to record and release music. Like... what?
Not sure a point is being reinforced with the statement “Jason has banned me a few times before”.....
