Yeah I feel like that’d be a whole lot more accessible than 22 songs as an album. Loved the way they went about the EPs with the self-titled. Each single had its own EP based around the main song. Btw not complaining about 22 songs before someone swoops in with a comment about THAT. Either way GUESS WE WAITING 28 DAYS for People
Was listening to this on Spotify and it played “Sincerity Is Scary” right after, and man... One of the best song transitions I’ve ever heard, musically.
ive stopped posting and will continue to not post in this thread because of how unbearable it is to read. honestly goes for 90% of this website right now
Maybe it’s overstayed it’s welcome to others, but I kind of appreciated the idea of “go down soft sound” opening all of their albums
I definitely liked the intro, but if the replacement is in service of something topical and literally existentially important, I really can't complain. It also pretty decidedly sets the tone for what's to come.
Forgive me if it was mentioned, but was the neon yellow chosen because it looks like a highlighter and the albums called Notes? That’s at least in my head canon.
Yeah I’m not against an opening song to an album I haven’t heard yet lol. Just wondered if they’d always do that. Guess not!
If this album is on par with the other 3 I think it’s fair to say they’re my favorite band of all time.
Looked up the speech where Greta originally said some of what's on the track and it's so moving. Wish this was on it: Adults keep saying, "We owe it to the young people to give them hope," but I don't want your hope. I don't want you to be hopeful. I want you to panic... I want you to act as if the house was on fire because it is.
For me, my favorite active band of all time is The National, but I think The 1975 is the most exciting active band. Even when a song of theirs doesn't land for me, I find that I love that they tried.
I enjoy this band so much for how much they’ve broadened my musical tastes. I adore jazz now, they made me understand pop music rather just me continuing to look down on it, the list goes on.
That’s a fucking great cover. Not listening to a single song leading up to the album this time, though.
I like the anti-escapism message of the track. Not sure I'll ever go out of my way to listen to it but the subversion is nice
I really love the duality of A Brief Inquiry and Notes in their themes. Seems this album will have a more human message as opposed to the technology of the previous record.
If that intro is truly the intro of the album it feels weird for them to release it half a year before the album comes out. I feel like it won’t have the urgency it deserves
For exactly this reason I wanna cut myself off and not listen to any singles. But good gracious that’s a long while away.
