in what world? thats like saying "paris" would stop the concert dead because its "slow" or whatever, yet every time they play it the crowd sings every word and its the most beautiful moment of the night
Songs from Notes I'd love to see live: People Frail Yeah I Know (imagine being just a little high and the light show they'd put with this song) Jesus Christ (if Phoebe is there) Me & You Together Song I Think There's Something You Should Know Tonight If You're Too Shy What Should I Say Don't Worry (bring Matty's dad out, everyone cries)
I'mma keep it real and admit that "Frail State of Mind" is the only song from this record I've regularly come back to since the month the album came out.
Now that it’s been two years and Notes is their worst-received by the general public, I just assume their next tour will double down on the “hits” because they’ve never really forgotten to do that. I would have loved to see basically all of the Notes stuff though, because I really enjoy the songs and it would have likely been way more electronic and dance-music-oriented than anything they’ve done before.
Well I could also see whatever they release next being a lot further into electronic music. Notes felt like kind of a transitional record in a way. I really like the record, there’s just a lot going on there.
I've been revisiting this lately (after not even really listening to 1975 for a while) and I think I like it more than when it came out I need to spend more time on it but yeah, I think taking a break helped me appreciate this album outside of my hype for the release/band
Very curious what sized venues they will play whenever they tour again. Imagine they may be a little smaller at first.
It sucks so much for them that they were about to play ARENAS before the pandemic wiped out all their tour plans.
I remember Matty saying Notes was gonna be like a mashup of Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen and Immunity by Jon Hopkins and that's what I always keep thinking it is. And George is the Jon Hopkins bit and Matty is the Springsteen bit.
I’m very very excited for whatever comes next despite them falling out of fashion on this site for reasons that remain very unclear to me
The 1975 teasing a new album is an energy I rarely feel anymore. Will never forget tuning in live to hear “Love Me” for the first time.
