I just posted this to Reddit. But I uh...I think I found a thing.

What is this Twitter account? https://twitter.com/xtrife/

I have no idea who/what it is, but I was following it. I bet many of you are following it too. Also, Adam, George, Jamie, The 1975 Updates account, and several 1975 friends I have are following the account. It has to be 1975 related. I didn't think it was Matty at first, because I thought they would have more than 59k followers. But the more I think about it, I think it's Matty. There's a link to a Soundcloud account, which has plenty of tracks and tens of thousands of listens , so I don't think that's his.

But its fishy, and I'm wondering if anyone here has any thoughts.

Went back and read my top 10 albums of 2018 writeup as I work on my 2020 blog and this sentence really sticks out:

Their first two albums (2013’s self-titled thesis statement and 2016’s overtitled Rorschach test) are lengthy, knotty masterpieces that aimed to provoke as much as please. There seems to be an ever-growing hurdle to being taken seriously by the critics and cool kids, namely frontman Matty Healy’s quest to be the last great British rock star and his unrelenting commitment to pop-music-as-art-project aesthetics. It seems likely that they’ll one day release a collection so scattered and self-serious that the world truly doesn’t know how to respond to it.

Havent heard this podcast yet, but bad sound quality can kill a podcast quickly for me. I believe decent mics are cheap enough these days for this to not be an issue. Not knocking anyone’s gear, but if someone is going to do something as ambitious as discussing each individual song in a band’s discography in separate podcasts, I’d expect good quality.

  24. I think it was a lot of zoom calling. My pod is done over Skype but we record our ends and join them together before posting. I couldn't imagine doing it any other way. But anyway, can't really speak to the format or quality of their analysis, that's just what I remember most when I listened. I'll check in from time to time when they do my favs.
