You all need to hear the soundtrack to the 1987 teen film Can't Buy Me Love - The 1975 seem like direct descendants to this soundtrack
Side note, "Can't Buy Me Love" is the most cliche 80's teen film ever, with a very surface level story, but it's still good if you want an easy watch
I love all of them EXCEPT midnight kids - so I’ll check it out but the 90s kids track is dope cause 90s kids are dope as well lol
I feel so seen and I can't dream Sleeping terrifies me, otherwise, I'm fine See-saw back and forth, back on the door, back on the floor Oh, please ignore me, I'm just feeling sorry for myself Feeling like someone, like somebody else Who don't feel himself Paying for their wealth with their mental health I'd like to meet myself and swap clothes I think there's someplace I should go think I’m ready to say this is the best moment on the album. it’s like “oh, what’s the vibe” but somehow hits ten times harder which shouldn’t be feasible but this band does it, on the same record no less.
I don’t have the time to sit with the whole thing much lately, but I’ve wanted to return to pretty much everything here. it’s also inspired me musically unlike any album I can think of in quite awhile. maybe that last Japanese House record.
Wasn’t sure how much I’d return due to the length, and “scattered”-ness of it. Though honestly been loving it lately. The back half is esp amazing.
Uh I’m listening to the vinyl, does anyone else feel like the speeds at like 1.1x or slightly faster?
It's definitely a highlight, I think it elevates the song, which is a bit kind of meh without this part tbh. I really like this album, but feels like there's just a lot of parts which feel a bit dull and forgettable.
can’t really agree with either determination but respect your opinion! I Think There’s Something You Should Know was an instant fav for me even prior to that part. there’s nothing on this album I haven’t found value in or wanted to return to, personally.
It has legs imo, but I don’t bat an eye at people who let it cool. It’s a very dense album with some very bizarre choices in style/pacing, but imo it paid off. A lot to love here.
