I really enjoy listening to this album all the way through, even with the instrumental and filler tracks, with the one exception of the first intro song with Greta Thunberg. It doesn't really transition into People that well either. Other than that, loving it overall
I agree with you. It's a great album to put on during work and enjoy. But the intro will never stick with me and I'll often skip it.
Even though the sequencing is clunkier, I think I actually prefer this to ABI. I also get drunk with nostalgia when Then Because and Me & You come on.
It's going to sound silly, but I think the clunky sequencing actually helps it more than ABI, since I'm personally not trying to look for thematic thread or anything this time around
i was up until 2am making a playlist of all their songs lol i will never share it but i will let you know it starts with all The 1975s (not the new) and then just BOP AFTER BOP. I kind of made it thinking if i was going to share it with someone who has never listened to them before. Speaking of, how jealous I am of someone that is just getting into them now, there is so many great songs you are about to discover.
i don't think it feels like a full song but i find it evocative of a very specific feeling that i like
"I will never share it.." .."i kind of made it thinking if I was going to share it with someone.." Maybe you should share it lol
Then Because She Goes is I think my favorite track on the whole thing. Vocal melodies are super Claudio Sanchez-y
We love the 1975 because they could belt out a record full of ‘The Sound,’ and ‘Heart Out’ but they don’t. I went into the record with lower expectations than usual, given the commentary and some of the shredding reviews. And I’ve got to say, upon the first three listens to this record —I’m blown away. It is full of ‘moments’: the unexpected musical, lyrical, production twists and turns, surprises, innovative deliveries. On every listen and every individual track, I've had a moment of: “Wow.” “Damn.” “That was unexpected.” Whether ‘good’ or ‘bad’ —I value artists that demand more of my tastes, that challenge my conventions by doing the same in their own work.
at this point the only things keeping this from being a perfect 10 to me are a handful of lyrics that sorta make me cringe ("I'm in love with Jesus Christ he's so nice") and Guys feels more like a bonus track to me, I wish the album ended with Don't Worry
I think this is encapsulates my feeling towards music perfectly. While I'll always have a soft spot for some of the classic genres and bands I grew up on - give me something new that I've never heard before or where I can at least appreciate the chance the artist took. A band so perfect at doing this (at least for me) is Arctic Monkeys. They follow up this massive record in AM with their most polarizing, bizarre, concept album and I find myself drawn more to the latter than the former.
Weird. “Then because” was my immediate favorite out of the unreleased tracks. Love the shoegazey vocals on it and George really nailed the drums.
