And I met one of your friends, and it was dead nice He was fine, but he said "Things that interest me exist outside of space and time" Now, I know I should've left it, but who says that? What a sigh This is low-key hilarious.
Not sure how many crossover 1975 / Anberlin fans there are in here, but thematically Guys reminds me of Uncanny by Anberlin. Both are songs about their band mates, and both songs are great.
a friend told me he would've loved the album if it were instrumental or sung by someone else, because to him matty sounds "on autopilot", like a weak link over some great production and music. does anyone share this opinion? i don't think his vocals were ever meant to be judged on how good they are technically, but on how well they fit their role and are delivered according to the moods and themes of the songs. i think he excels at that - be it a deadpan retelling of a depressing moment or a stream-of-consciousness burst of anger, he does it in a way i can relate to. (also they went crazy with modulation and vocoders and made it sound more like an instrument half the time) telling my friend he "doesn't get it" could sound patronizing and arrogant, but honestly that's the impression i get. maybe he was hoping for LIIWMI parts 2 3 4 etc, so i wonder it anyone else shares his opinion and if i'm missing some huge flaw
