I really think this album makes the most sense split up into these four sides. they individually remind me of the eps

 

Listened to this band’s discog on shuffle today when I was mowing the lawn. I forget how stacked it is.

 

It's INSANE how many epically (ew I don't like that but I'm sticking with it) great tracks that they have in such a short amount of time. It also became more and more apparent that the "experimentation" on some of these more recent records has been in their wheelhouse since the very beginning. What used to seem like a small foot note on earlier EP releases is now just far more normal and expanded.

 

Seriously - hearing him talk about all that made me even more disappointed in the decision not to use it for this record.

 

This album is an experience, start to finish.

I love it.

 

I split it up into 4 EPs today but did it more by style, and made sure each started with an instrumental. works out pretty good in a lot of different sequences tbh (including the one it came in!)

I agree with a lot of folks saying the first chunk is a little slow after people. I really love the birthday party as a song but it’s placement feels really off.

 

Predictably I like all the pop/rock songs on this and could do without all the instrumental interludes and electronic tracks. Hate to be so basic but that's my immediate first take

 

While I love this album, it almost put me to sleep on a long drive yesterday. I had to put on some Dogleg.

This is really clicking with me. Feels like exactly what I need right now during all of this.

 

As I've done with the last two albums, I spent some time trimming (what I consider) the fat and doing some slight re-sequencing, I personally enjoy the album waaayyy more this way:

I was trying to think of what “Bagsy” was reminding me of, & I think it’s the movie Spring Breakers? lol.

 

I’d put what should I say with the glitchy moody stuff even if it’s a banger!

 

I think "I like it when you sleep..." is probably still their strongest overall complete work, front to back - "The Ballad Of Me And My Brain" is probably the most unique thing they've ever done

 

I wanted the EPs to be as balanced as could in terms of track length

 

I just like Matty going off a bit. The electronics on that track are some of my favorites too

I just remembered that my two favorite album sequences of all time are ILIWYS and the dark dark bright by there will be fireworks

But yeah, I tried to sequence this very deliberately so it fits a coherent narrative too, that I'm hoping makese sense, but probably doesn't.

 

I miss TWBF so much. That album is a masterpiece

 

Just listened to it. Honestly, will forever be in my top 3 albums of all time, and I’m not sure if there will ever be another album that’s so specifically catered to my sensibilities. Truly is the most underrated masterpiece I know of

also, any 1975 fan who wants a indie/post rock/acoustic-emo record that’s sequenced and varied like a 1975 album, listen to it
