On the second album's title: "It came from something that I thought, and then I wrote down, and then laughed at cause it sounded like a Fall Out Boy song."
I was thinking about how I’d introduce friends that are unfamiliar with them and I think I’d always go ABIIOR because the big moments on that are undeniably bigger but I think after a few days with the record that this one is better
Went on a walk right around sunset with this and it was the p e r f e c t way to experience this album I highly recommend
they seriously kept delaying the album date just to release this? that is perfectly okay with me because this record is fantastic and definitely worth the wait
Their acoustic tracks have always been the stuff least engaging to me, but playing on my mind is really one of my fav songs on this. The melodies on that are perfect
they’re both perfect and two of my faves, lyrically. I’ve found that Guys, much like IAWDS, works really well before The End (Music For Cars). Guys comes off as almost like a fake-out “happy ending” and then The End comes in pretty tense and ominously. I’m finding this record immediately so rewarding in a way I’m kinda struggling to adequately compare to another record offhand lol. I really am loving thinking of the sequencing as this fluid thing to kind of play with as one pleases (I also do very much love this album in the sequencing they chose as well for the playlist haters lol).
First listen I like this much more than abi and much more than I expected. Wish there were more songs like people. Love guys and glad I didn’t listen to it beforehand. Then bc she goes and roadkill are probably my favorites
So I think this is probably my second favorite album by them, there are almost no weak points for me besides the intro obvoiusly being way too long and I'm not really a big fan of The Birthday Party or Jesus Christ. So many of their most interesting experiments on here, and I don't mind the length at all since 80 minutes is pretty standard for hip-hop, the genre I probably listen to the most lol. I'm fine just listening straight through but I think it's cool that you can literally just make two playlists out of this and make two albums if you don't have an hour and a half, a "rock" one and an electronic one. The ones I made are 12 and 10 songs respectively, it's split pretty closely down the middle which is dope. I was supposed to see them tomorrow :( I really hope they do a rescheduled American tour once they can and they don't just skip touring this album since they tend to not stay in one place for long, who knows what they'll be doing a year from now This ranking could change but I think I go ABI Notes ILIWYS s/t but all four are great
Just arrived! No additional artwork or lyric sheet inside which is a shame but I guess is probably an effort to reduce their paper usage.
