“paris” does not sound like “every breath you take.” it’s a deliberate flip of “only you” by yaz. it is also still the best 1975 song
It's weird you say that cause A Change of Heart always reminds me of Only You. That extended synth part feels like a reference to it.
The reason I learned to like Paris is cause one day I wasn’t paying attention I thought I was vibing to only you lol
Paris is their best song. I think Jesus Christ - Roadkill - M&YTS is a) my favorite run on this at the moment and b) surprising for me personally cuz I never thought I’d like a song like Roadkill as much as I do
Paris is an astoundingly great song. This band have wrote a lot of absolute bangers, but in terms of more laid back songs, Robbers, Paris and Guys blow most bands attempts out of the water for me
Sometimes when I get bored my favorite thing to do is state opinions as fact on message boards. Clearly we are already doing that so...give me a minute lol
Love Paris, but their best song is Somebody Else, both from a songwriting perspective and cultural cachet EDIT: Idk they have so many good songs, it's impossible to pick a best, right? Right?!
A lot of kids I go to school with and friends aren't loving this record. I don't this album is as easy to digest for the casual 1975 fan as ILIWYS or ABIIOR might have been.
Nah it's a weird, long, country/garage fusion record. I'd be surprised if everyone was on board with it.
Oh yeah like I said my fiancé and her mom are totally OUT on this record. My brother, a casual fan of select big tracks, said that he doesn’t like listening to them because they lack a true identity lol
Yeah, I honestly wonder if things were normal and this had come out when I would still be in school if I would have liked it as much, at least this instantly. Everything this band does eventually grows on me.
Paris is at least a top 3 1975 song for me. I know a couple people compared the lyrics of The Birthday Party to Paris when it came out, I think Playing On My Mind might come even closer to recreating the type of wordplay and brutal honesty from Paris in my opinion (even if they're musically very different)
Paris is the only song on ILIWYS that I’m really not that big on. No real issue with it, just never clicked. Appreciate it’s place on the record though, absolutely contributes to the flow
