Shiny Collarbone is interesting but as someone who takes pride in sequencing my own albums/how other artists do it so well...some of this just is jarring lol. I think The Birthday Party through Tonight (I Wish I Was Your Boy) is a near perfect stretch on this second more proper listen, still a few songs towards the end I haven't really heard yet..
of course!!! i’d love to know your thoughts when you do listen!! I really do feel like this album is legitimately meant to be consumed literally however the listener wants to, including as presented (which I’d be willing to bet is also not necessarily *as intended* if that makes sense lol), but I don’t feel like they’ve come and outright said it but more so heavily implied it? idk. even the name to me really points to that. it’s also such a different way to conceptualize a record than we’re traditionally used to, but I really love it bc this band has always been great playlist fodder anyway. I’ve got like 15 different 1975 playlists lol. especially with the whole mindshower thing and all the references to deconstruction/deconstructing in interviews, I really feel like this album is just intended to be listened to however tf the listener wantsZ
SAINT. Thank you. I'm on listen #4 since late last night and now I am really diving into the nuances now that the basics are familiar. I am just so blown away by the production on it as a whole.
my take on the discourse is that people should stop using the word trigger when not in reference to PTSD unless they want to escalate conversations about music into over aggressive territory.
I haven't really paid attention to them. I was talking more vibe. Is that the problem people have with Be My Mistake?
I got my refund today too on a credit card I had no balance on, so now I have like 137 dollars of play money. Guess i’ll buy the vinyl now haha
anyways, going through my first listen right now. record is fine so far. not much sticking for me other than the singles I've already heard. listening to a 22 track record is tough for me these days and things just don't stick with me on the first listen in general.
Oh interesting. Don't think I've paid much attention to them either. Maybe that's why I don't get the hate for it.
This is a classic 1975 record in that I'm listening through it and hearing more in the tracks each time.
Bagsy is so cool but it’s the hardest one for me to connect to emotionally. Sounds closest to the EPs though, so maybe I just need time
going through a discog listen (did the EPs last night) and just hit when you sleep and man if this isn't one of the best albums ever for me magic in 74 minutes
