But I do DIE for the lil piano line in that song. If they had just had it be a "proper" song without the big electronica gap it definitely would have worked for me. Bagsy - MATTY TURN DOWN THE BASS AND TURN UP YER VOCAL - WE CAN'T HEAR YOU LAD
I'll take Frail State and Me and You Together over anything on ABI. Edit: actually, just Frail State. Mine is definitely as good as M&YTS.
My Stand Out tracks for me are 1. The Birthday Party 2. Me and You Together Song 3. Then Before She Goes 4. Playing on My Mind 5. Nothing Revealed/Everything Denied My favorite instrumental track is Streaming because of the beautiful lead into The Birthday Party. The Birthday Party has grown to be my favorite 1975 song.
I’ll take Me and You Together and If You’re Too Shy over anything on ABI I will say that while I don’t think this will probably ever completely click with me, it’s already growing on me whereas ABI never did at all
The little high pitched squeals or whatever @ 2ish minutes of I Think There's Something... are cool. Make the song for me.
Also I in no way mean this to invalidate anyone’s opinion or connection to the song, but as an orchestral musician myself I find the arrangements on The End elementary and dull to the point that I wish it didn’t even exist
Keys at the beginning of "Nothing Revealed" are great too EDIT: Lol the fucking rap though. Takes me out of an otherwise pretty great song.
What Should I Say is the only song on here I’d put on a level with anything on ABI, Siri song notwithstanding. listening to the debut now and yeah Notes is definitely my least favourite of their albums. I hope I do come around on it, but I find it a slog to listen to
personally, couldn’t disagree more but ya know different strokes n all. LIIWMI is the only song I’d say is maybe better than everything here and it’s not a particular certainty. I really think this is the band’s strongest set of songs.
I do love the song but I thought when I heard it that they've done it slightly better before. still a bop tho
I went with: TOOTIME How to Draw LIIWMI Sincerity America It's Not Living Mine It's Not Living is probably their best song overall, imo. Just a perfectly crafted pop song.
I’ll never forget how overwhelmed I felt when I listened to I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes) for the first time
Mine Give Yourself a Try I Like America Love It If We Made It I Couldn't Be More in Love My top 5 from that album. I think I could probably make a top 5 from this that I like as much but it's not as strong as a whole.
I'm gonna do a listen of this album minus the pre-release tracks to get more well acquainted with the other tracks. It's kinda funny, if you remove the 8 pre-release tracks, there's still 14 songs and 51 minutes left
I just listened to the album making The End the first track and going from there, and it was so much more enjoyable (although The End still doesn't do much for me with its arrangement). But that version doesn't have the intro or "People" which makes it instantly worse. It's just the part where it kills the momentum from People that gets me. I'll probably try resequencing this at some point.
I don't really like comparing. I try my best to see each album as an "addition" to their discography.
