Honestly, by now, I know all tidbits about the album is just noise until it’s released. I wish we could ignore all of Jamie’s tweets
I mean Matty himself guaranteed it would be out before Reading and Leeds. The whole band is pretty loose with their statements
Don’t care when it comes out, take your time, honestly... At this point, I couldn’t care less about the dates that were previously stated. Sounds like it’s close to completion anyway, and I trust the band to deliver something great... It’s close enough to being done... just get it right and I’m happy.
I don’t care either if they release anything even remotely close to what they claimed would sound ‘Drive Like I Do/EP’ esque. It’s still a problem when Jamie constantly makes these claims and consistently backpedals though. And it’s not just regarding the new album. It’s regarding a whole lot of things. Tour dates, album preorders, merch issues, setlists, tickets, etc.
Yeah to be clear I don’t mind the album coming out next year. I just don’t need Jamie saying ridiculous things just to say them.
DLID and the EP’s sound very different from each other so I’m really curious as to how this album is actually gonna sound lol
I selfishly actually hope the album doesn't come out until later because I missed the last NA tour and if they do another one later this year I want the same setlist
This haha, or at least wait till the tour is over. I’m never a big fan of bands working on albums during touring. It just seems a lot of strain on a band to be thinking about touring/playing most nights to then getting off and recording bits. Creativity should be in a place where it elevates. I just can’t imagine getting in that mind set on tour.
Right but there’s also no reason to constantly give out dates that they aren’t going to stick by either. Can take as long as they bloody want - I’m sure it’ll be brilliant and this thread will lose their shit for it as always. But it’s completely unnecessary for their manager to go on the way he does over the years.
I definitely agree that the band can take as long as they want and we will surely love the final product. Just don't give us dates/deadlines when they may not be entirely reasonable. I do love this band but I've learnt much earlier not to trust what Jamie or the band says in regards to albums or release dates. I get that many things can happen during an album cycle but it's more of a habit these days for them. Either way, like many others I'll be waiting.
One of my biggest pet peeves (other than the term "pet peeves" but I don't know how else to say it) is people talking about doing shit more than just doing it. So many posts on social media "working on my album!" "writing my book!" shut up and just do it, nobody cares until it exists. I won't announce anything I make until it's done. I'm not saying the 1975 are a dipshit friend on Facebook who spend more time gabbing than working, but it's still irritating when you're setting arbitrary dates when you really have no idea. Just finish the fucking thing and then you can start your annoyingly long 9 month tease of a full length where I'll only like 6 of the 19 songs
Haha I remember when Matty had like 4 projects going on at once, including what I think was going to be a fashion collection on a site he called My Stoner Girlfriend? Don’t think anything came of that either. I could be wrong.
Not really weird as such. Don’t think it’s completely unreasonable for fans to be irritated at being constantly fed false information. It’s something that’s been voiced for years and it’s become something of a meme for a section of the fan base. Totally happy for the band to take their time with their new album having just released one. Just think as a whole there needs to be more certainty and thought into the information they give out. It’s nice being kept in the loop but it’s often misleading. Completely understandable that things change, but it becomes frustrating when you often can’t really take anything their manager says seriously because 9 times outta 10 it never pans out that way.
There is way too much music, among other things, to be excited about consuming to actually care this much about this band not releasing music/news by arbitrary dates they shared. Stop acting so privileged and get a hobby.
Right so to clarify, because you don’t care about this specific thing as much as someone else then clearly they’re obsessed and need to get a hobby? Get over yourself. Nobody here is losing sleep over it. It’s a forum. It’s a discussion is all.
