I haven’t listened to anything mike Kinsella in forever. What’s everyone’s favorite album or project of his?
Anybody here listen to The Paper Kites? You take the vibe/aesthetic of The 1975, and mix with the sound/feel/emotion of Jimmy Eat World, imo
you had me at Jimmy Eat World. this is good stuff. edit: wait this is the same artist that made Bloom? welp, time to do a deep dive.
if your ok with just his drumming , their/theyre/there is basically the best thing hes been involved with in years tbh.
Speaking of Bea I'm not sure this has been discussed here but Matty and George will be producing her new record (the next one after the upcoming one)
Rina Sawayama doing "Love It If We Made It"? Woah. Plus, Phoebe Bridger, & Pale Waves, & Beabadoobee. Bring it on.
Man the Stevie Nicks interview is amazing. I'd love for Matty to interview Lindsey Buckingham just to get the other side of the story
Holy shit, very excited about that podcast series Matty's doing. I love Steve Reich, I can't wait to listen to that interview
I hope Matt repeatedly talks about how great The Starting Line is on his podcast and it results in a full on TSL reunion and new album.
Makes sense a bunch of Dirty Hit artists would be on this. Rina doing LIIWMI sounds like it'll be amazing.
Listening to Stevie Nicks' commenting on her first time hearing Chocolate reminded me of when I first heard it... and I only caught the last 20 seconds or so, and I was just like "what is THISSSS?!" Went home and looked it up immediately... And this was like early 2013... when the EP's, before the debut album, were just starting to pop online... I just happened to catch them on Alt-Nation on XM radio. They were basically nobodies at the time, none of my friends knew of them, there was no buzz or hype around them at all... It's just interesting how you can hear something ONCE, out of nowhere, and it sparks... something...
I remember hearing Chocolate a few times and thought it was annoying, hated how Matty sung it. Then one day I checked out Sex since everyone on AP was saying how great they were and that song blew me away.
I never really got into The 1975 during their self titled. Always saw the constant mentions and adoration of them on AP but somehow never heard any of their stuff. I was watching the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas livestream, waiting to watch Fall Out Boy, and was watching The 1975’s set. Thought it was alright, but when they played Chocolate, it was so catchy and I couldn’t stop listening. This was maybe a month or so before The Sound came out. I started listening to them a TON, as well as the live versions of all the (then-unreleased) ILIWYS songs. I listened to the live version of The Sound obsessively, and when the studio version dropped, it sealed the deal for me that they were my new obsession. Flew to Vegas that April to see them live for the first time, and now I’ve seen them 21 times total. Would get a 1975 tattoo in a heartbeat if Matty didn’t say so much dumb shit.
