Single in August. Album in December.

Enjoy Gov Ball y’all! I went yesterday but didn’t want to see this as a festival show... sortie regretting it now.

  7. Holy FUCK. That was the best hour and 15 minutes, like, ever. Cried, danced and screamed my heart out. I love this band so much.

The 1975 confirm release date of lead single from their next album

From an interview with Beats 1 in February:

In an interview with Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music's Beats 1, frontman Matty Healy revealed the lead single from their next album, called Notes On A Conditional Form, will be released on May 31 at midnight.

Despite confirming the release date, Matty said they've yet to decide which song they will put out from the album first and are currently deciding between three tracks.

Lol. Sounds like they’d planned to release something for June 1st but erm, in true 1975 fashion...didn’t.

Last album is half a year old. It’s fine that nothing is out.

Nobody contested that! If the new one sounds anything like the EPs as Matty suggested, they can take as long as they like.

I would love this band just to drop a whole album without any preceding singles, but I also doubt they would do that.

I’d be shocked if it’s actually 20 tracks, but I do remember him saying it’s their longest record.

Uughghghghgh, such a good album, such an incredible song. Wish I could have seen this band perform this album live. Imagine if Matty invited the band to open for them on a tour? Would be amazing

I hope they drop the album all at once. Would be refreshing to listen to new 1975 material not having played the singles to death beforehand.

Are they actually done with the album? I remember seeing their mobile studio was dismantled.

I think that this definitely affected my experiences with Brief Inquiry. I overplayed the hell out of the singles, and I think the singles ended up being my favorites on the album (for the most part) and it definitely affected my overall experience of the album.

I think I’m going to try and withhold from listening to any singles beyond the first one for this next album.

Do this with pretty much every album, but it always seems like The 1975 have too many singles out prior for my tastes. One or two is enough, though I would enjoy just a full album drop. Suppose in a business sense that’s a risk and a difficult thing to pull off though.
