Yeah, I’m at the point where I’m pretty comfortable saying How to Draw/Petrichor is my favorite 1975 song. Glad to hear Notes will dive more into that direction
I think the lineup will be changed. I think Phoebe won't be on the rescheduled dates because she needs to do a headliner for her album (that will have been out for months by the time the new tour is to happen).
I think it's still entirely possible she is the opener, it's a great tour to be on regardless of circumstances
It looks like the entire tour is being moved from postponed to canceled per the dates on Ticketmaster.
Yeah I think there’s a chance Phoebe’s still on it when it happens. A lot of The 1975’s fans that aren’t too familiar with her already will have been warmed up to her due to her feature on the record, so getting in front of them with her own material will be a great opportunity to seal the deal on a ton of new fans for her
Red Rocks officially canceled. It will be nice to get that money back because the tickets were so expensive. Hoping they’ll try for a Red Rocks date again next year since that’s two years in a row with a canceled Red Rocks show
Her album will have been out for months by the time this tour actually happens. It'd make more sense for her to do a headliner to her own fans, as she's the most popular she has ever been in her career and can likely fill 1,000+ capacity venues. Of course being on this tour would be a big deal, I'm not disagreeing with that at all, but her fans will be itching for a headlining tour from her after having the album for months.
It was only a matter of time. Cleveland has been walking a fine line for decades now. But it is ultimately for the best...for Ohio and the country. EDIT: Oh, you meant the concert.
Yeeeeah but like. I think people will be itching just to see her *at all*, regardless of headlining or supporting. And that goes for any artist tbh. People just wanna go to shows again. And once musicians have the green light to tour again, we’re probably gonna be pretty saturated with live music. IMO, asking concertgoers to spread their wallets even thinner so she can do her own thing isn’t necessarily a stronger option than being a part of a huge package that is guaranteed to sell well, puts her in bigger rooms than she can play on her own currently, and includes a built in audience. My thoughts on this will likely change depending on how far out this tour is postponed until though
Well, we’re going to see smaller capacity shows come back before big arena shows, so if she has the opportunity to do a headliner while the status of The 1975 tour is up in the air, I think she should do it. Also, I know this can be said for any support l artist, but a lot (or at least a good amount) of Phoebe fans just aren’t into The 1975 and want her to do a solo tour. If you put out a new album and aren’t a new or up and coming band, it makes more sense to play to a crowd of people who know your music first versus a crowd who may not be as interested. I see both sides though, and this is just my perspective. Who knows what will end up happening!
Gotta imagine Phoebe fans would prefer to see her on her own tour so they can actually get reasonably priced tickets to see her as opposed to camping at their computer in the hopes of getting an expensive ticket for The 1975. Not saying touring with The 1975 isn't a great opportunity for Phoebe, but I'm not sure it's her target demographic. Also, is Phoebe just gonna wait for when The 1975 reschedules these shows or just outright schedules new ones? It's gonna be tough to maintain the same tour plans when a lot of artists are rescheduling shows at the same time. If she wants to tour in support of her new album, she might not be able to wait on The 1975 who have their own plans that are likely much bigger and wider-reaching. On a side note, is there going to be a gradual reopening of venues when shows are allowed again, or are they just gonna open all at once? Like, are 500-1,000 cap venues gonna be reopened before the massive-sized venues The 1975 plays in now? It could be a state-by-state case and it's worth considering.
Yeah definitely agree at least on the last part! None of us can do anything more than speculate at this point. Fwiw I do actually kinda hope I’m wrong, bc 1975 tickets anymore are definitely above the amount I care to spend on a show, hah
