I’m still not convinced that “annoying” synth line from change of heart is not a pitched up and warped vocal line from Matty, it sounds too “natural” imo
I always cringe at the thought of listening to A Change of Heart ever again and then it comes on and it somehow compels me to listen and bop through to the end... I don’t get it.
Sure, I mean you're free to like FSOM as an intellectual juxtaposition and in-universe 1975 easter egg. But after that sensation passed, it's not that remarkable of a song to me.
Arguments that amount to "I do not like [thing]" "but how, I love [thing]!" are the worst, but like, I just really do not feel the same way, at all, lol. Like, I love the song so much, above most other 1975 songs. Oh well.
No worries! Liking things is good. You like what you like. To be clear I don't dislike it, it just doesn't connect with me the way their best songs do. Some of that is due to the aforementioned melodic repetition, some's due to the lyrics (which IMO don't have the offbeat wit or vivid imagery of Matty's best writing). The production is cool and it sounds great at night in the rain. I'm sure it'll be great in context because they've never failed at putting together a stellar album that flows perfectly.
Nice! Not sure it’s THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG IVE EVER HEARD OMG I WANNA DIE like most of the Reddit comments say, and I didn’t hear the stream of it so I can’t comment on the rest, but it’s nice for sure. Excited to hear it in full.
So it seems Having No Head is the real dancey, John Hopkins-esque track George did on his Instagram live. Track time checks out too if you go from 14:47. EDIT: Only the piano stuff is picked up on Shazam, not the middle bit.
Thanks for the share, but to be completely honest tracks like that really don’t interest me. I get as a side project for George that this stuff could be really interesting, but on a 1975 album it just feels unnecessary imo. If it was like a minute long I wouldn’t have minded it as an interlude, but it kinda just dragged on for me. I know already that I’ll most likely be skipping this track so I can get back to what I know the band for.
Also I’ve REALLY warmed up on Jesus Christ 2005. Love Phoebe’s part. Still wince at the opening lyrics but yeah.
It's a very good song. I've listened to it a bunch and haven't really listened to the other songs at all.
These are great live though. Perfect for piss breaks and the low end is so loud that I can hear it through the walls of the arena bathroom. I’m half kidding.
So I did some further digging. Shazam only recognises the plinky plonky piano shit at the start and end, not the heavy bit... so who knows...
I love the sound of it, personally. all in for some more shit in the realm of ILIWYS and How To Draw/Petrichor
