I'm not saying I'm going to hate the album, haha. I'm just saying I typically don't have the attention to span to get through a 40 minute album these days, let alone an 80 minute one...
I am fully here and ready for an 80 minute long, 22 song 1975 album. Will definitely be a contender for my 2021 aoty
Worst case scenario is that you’ll have 2 11 track albums from the 1975 coming! I’m sure they’re going to sequence it so you can split it
Honestly, I'd personally rather get two shorter albums w/ the first coming out sooner, instead of waiting for this bigger album. Like, would've been happy w/ a trilogy of shorter annual albums for this "Music For Cars" era (if they're still calling it that.) But, that's just the way I consume music right now. If they wanna wait for some kinda longer musical statement or whatever, I'm not gonna tell 'em they have to bend their creative vision around my preferences. Whatever. The one complaint I do personally agree with, which has led to me not paying super close attention to this rollout, is the constantly shifting dates. I'm that way w/ a lot of media, though. Like, I prefer when comic book creative teams withhold soliciting their comic 'til it's finished, instead of a ton of delays. Though, much as w/ comics, I'd still take the album as intended over a weaker product in order to stay on schedule; I just think not even giving a schedule 'til you're ready makes more sense. But, hey, whatever, idk.
Can you imagine being an artist and working so hard on a project for so long while fans are clamoring for you to finish it nonstop, and then you finish it, and the first thing some of the fans say is, “Jesus, why is it so long? I don’t need that.” What a world.
A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships is probably my favorite album of the last two years. I listened to "Frail State of Mind" & watched the music video a ton. Notes is one of my two most anticipated albums at the moment (the other being Julien Baker's next one, whenever that's supposed to come out). And, when I shared my preference for a couple smaller albums over one bigger album, I qualified it by saying I wouldn't expect them to compromise their creative vision for the sake of that preference. But, hey, what's online fandom w/out people who take every differing opinion deeply personally, lol.
because the vast vast vast majority of albums with 15-22+ tracks contain a lot of filler. I am one who prefers quality over quantity this band deserves some credit because their last two albums are 15-16 tracks and work really well. I just can't think of one album that exceeds that many tracks that I listen to front to back. if a good amount are interludes or spoken word stuff and the actual songs are around that 15-16 track mark then it'll be fine. more does not always equal better.
It’s just ridiculous to judge something you literally haven’t listened to yet. To me, every song so far has been fantastic and I see no reason to think that quality won’t continue on to a full album like it has in the past.
if there is a band that can release a 22 track album and each one is a banger it is the 1975 I'm just not holding my breath
This, I agree with, unfortunately. Which is a big part of why I tend to unfollow it after posting & just pop in every now & then.
Personally I think their last couple albums had a ton of songs that I always skip and think are weak. I’ll be happy if I can craft this down to a 10 track full length that I love
there isn’t a single song on any of the full-lengths thus far that I don’t at least like, a vast majority of them I love I’m not worried, they honestly seem to be at their creative peak.
