Does anyone else hear "The Man Who Married A Robot / Love Theme" music at the beginning of both the song and video?

 

My first thought is that those were representations of people who spend their lives trolling, and removed from their context on the Internet could be at peace. Even if you like saying hateful things to incite others, it must definitely be tiring.

 

not my favorite of the new songs, but still great. the Pinegrove line makes sense in context of the song. the video was bonkers.

 

My first thought was: how long until the video gets edited with the memes blurred? This happened to Sum 41 on Fake My Own Death

The music video is some galaxy brain type stuff but they really make it work anyways

 

After listening to "The Birthday Party" Like 6 times in a row, I know for sure that this album is going to break me.

I can't fucking wait!!

 

yeah i think the idea is using memes that have been co opted for hate, hence the need to 'detox'

 

but also that these are symbols that only have meaning in a certain context.

basically the memes are detoxing too?

 

sidenote, it's kinda sad to think that matty feels like fans have turned him into a meme - that's so dehumanizing

Definitely clumsy both in terms of the lyrics of that particular part and the video, but I do enjoy the song.

 

I think I really like it? Feel like it will probably be great in context of the album.

Instantly feels like the most polarizing single/video they’ve ever put out.

So far "clumsy" is the closest description to how I've felt about it too, very good way to put it

 

The song is very very good

 

Song is decent, but doesn't grip me in the same way as Frail State of Mind and Me & You Together Song. Saw the live vid of If You're Too Shy and that song is great, so I'm very optimistic for the album.

 

This video must have cost an absolute fortune

Also on reflection this is the best The 1975 song by quite some way

Hey, so The 1975 is a great band...

 

Hmmm so I’ve liked all the songs so far but idk if anything has blown me away. There’s clearly a lot going into these songs, the production, lyrics etc. they FEEL like they’ve been really worked on with painstaking detail, and yet I also can’t help but feel like they’re a little nondescript. They kind of wash over me. Idk. I’m excited for the record and I think as a whole it will really work.

 

I feel like the last album title would have fit better with this one so far
