Does anyone get a early to mid 2000s emo sound from this?? I haven’t seen that comparison but it was my immediate thought. Not calling it the same but like the starting line or something around that I can’t put my finger exactly on it if you can think of a better comparison say so but yeah that’s where I’m at and I really enjoy it.
Yeah this is straight up early 2000’s sounding. I mean I don’t want to say it sounds like Home Grown or another band from that era but it definitely has those qualities. I dig it.
definitely picking up on some fun easter egg-y background vocals in the last chorus George is such a great producer
Really like it. Is every song on this album going to be a different sort of pastiche of a genre? Like this is late 80s/early 90s shoegaze pop, FSOM is garage/2step and whatever genre People is haha.
Really? That's cool. I've never really dug that deep into their discography. These last 3 songs just all seem very on the nose in terms of genre without a "modern spin" on it or whatever. (Not that that's a bad thing.)
Absolutely! Give their discography a run, and play the albums front to back. ILIWYS (2nd album) is extremely cohesive and has a wide range of style, and ABOIIR is a little more stylistically diverse, but they really know how to craft a full listening experience, and the sequencing of their albums somehow just works. There’s a lot of sounds they dabble in, but always make it work as a complete piece.
It's funny to me that they hyped this record up as a nighttime record, yet I cannot think of a sunnier song in their discography than this one. Not that I'm complaining, I look at everything this band does through rose-colored glasses, so it's hard for them to let me down.
This is the first 1975 song I’ve enjoyed enough to download from AM. Hopefully they release more like it.
