if you think they should cut those songs form the set, then you haven’t been with a great crowd seeing them live.
All of their songs slap live. All the times I’ve seen them. Addition by subtraction. Also...play Antichrist lololol
watching this p4k set (skipped ahead to paris sry) and they are just so obviously the best live band that plays the kind of crowds they play. certain bands you know when they reach a certain size they start playing venues bigger than are really fitting for them. the 1975 however turns these spaces into their own playground, making it an unforgettable experience for everyone from the front to the very highest and furthest back seats in the place.
The full Reading & Leeds set is up on Youtube and, before playing Chocolate, Matty had this to say: "So I played this song a lot of times in my life by now...and this shit just still slaps so hard."
It is really incredible to see how happy, excited, and fulfilled Matty felt during that Reading & Leeds set. That honestly may have been even better than the band's set at the O2 in London. It's just so heartwarming to see the difference in Matty between being sober and not. I forget where exactly I read this, but he tears up and gets really emotional during Medicine in the O2 set and I seem to remember hearing about it being because of his struggles with substance abuse. I know Matty has come out and said what that song is really about, but I'm talking about how I read somewhere that he cited that specific performance at O2 as a very heavy moment for him in his life. I just can't help but feel so proud of and happy for him to have taken the steps to become his best self and you can really see it in the way he comes off in interviews and performances now.
this is true (tho I still love the studio version) this is also true true as well! I’ve been re-visiting the video Medicine at the O2 a lot lately and it’s really special.
That performance of Robbers is probably the best I've seen this whole tour. Matty's vocals have gotten so much better live.
It’s impressive how good HE has been with these performances. Getting clean (if he’s still clean) really had a positive impact.
This is v important as a wrestling fan- This guy broke his neck and look what shirt he is wearing on his return
It’s been a little over 2 years since my gf and I have seen them, but that’ll change Nov 16th and I’m pretty excited. I beat their music to death and I haven’t listened in a while, but I’ll be listening nonstop until then
I don't love the production on the track - but the song itself is gorgeous. Love the falsetto and the back half of the song. The guitar solo is godly.
