Currently don’t have anything to say that hasn’t already been said. This record rules, largely untouchable shit. Happiness knocked my ass flat onto the earth’s surface. Had a blast on my first listen through, and again while re-listening and scrolling through multiple pages of very good and insightful takes. It’s 1975 day baby
Considering part of the reason I moved to Oslo was to attempt to get back with my ex, only to eventually find out she's dating someone new (who happens to share my first name, lol), "About You" hits hard
On a personal note that nobody asked for, I’m officially moving to Oregon from Arizona next month and can already envision the day that I listen to this record and reminisce on this time & massive life change
Got a chance to listen to this and I could not have expected better. Loving this album and the vibe it gives.
Okay... I've always been one fit in, one foot out with this band. I've never fully connected with them or a complete album from them. It's always been a song here and there. Enough to at least make a playlist. However, this album was the first time I made it through still intact as a listener. Good sign.
While I was a sucker for the repeated 1975 shtick…this opener is incredible wow. Looking for somebody to love is next level. While you can definitely feel Jack Antoff lurking about in the songs it really seems for the best. This is the 1975 at their best.
Just listened to on my commute to work. Wow. What I love is that I hear influences and melodies that remind me of musicians from my childhood and (Kenny Logins "Looking For Somebody" , Peter Gabriel "Oh Caroline" , and the obvious Fleetwood Mac (Tango-era in "IILWY") then there's some Sarah Records 'twee' band feels in "Wintering". Jack Antonoff worked some magic into these tracks! I will say from all the non single tracks "About You" hit me from the start. The shoegazey distortion just wraps you up and you get lost in it. Definitely their top album by a landslide. 43 minutes and 32 seconds of sheer brilliance. AOTY.
The “woman you are 64 years old” line has made me laugh every time. Just a brilliantly delivered classic Matty line
