That was my immediate reaction on that one. I’m excited to hear these live. Album feels very different for them, especially from a production standpoint. Feels very lax and they’re in the pocket for a lot of these songs.
Human Too is smooth as hell. Second half is probably one of the most riveting moments on this record so far, and encapsulates their “jam band” approach the best
"About You" swoooooooon - reminds me of the style of tracks on their early EP's And who is the female vocalist??
About You sounds like a sequel to Medicine imo back half of this record is where the album kicks into gear
looking for somebody to love is *such* a bleachers song lol. it could fit directly onto their last album.
And the fact we get a new Taylor Swift album next week as well, a supposedly darker/moodier one (along with new CRJ), make these next few weeks one of the best periods of new music in a long time
Closing thoughts: this is pretty much the quintessential 1975 record, all killer no filler. This isn’t the scrappy band from the 10s looking to capture the history of music in a bottle, but taking what they’ve learned and refining it to the “best” they can be. It’s the least challenging record the band has penned to date, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It allows for the songs to really take focus, and Matty is the least distracting he’s ever been on this record. There are some gorgeous tracks, and while the songs themselves aren’t a significant diversion from what they’ve done before, it’s the approach they’ve taken that breathes new life into the 1975 this go around. excited to latch onto these songs more!
Just got done with my first listen and I think you peeps are going to absolutely dig the shit out of this. There's literally no fluff and has some of their catchiest, most melodic stuff yet.
