Their whole catalog is a vibe; when you're in that mindset where you just want to put on feel-good music, Fly By Midnight is always a great option
100% agree!!!!!!!! I'm also sooo into Bad Suns, Dreamfone, Modernlove. and Sea Girls. They all have The 1975 vibezzzz.
Modernlove is as close to the "debut album 1975 sound" as you'll get; what they've put out so far has been great. Hopefully thye're pretty good live. Haven't heard of Dreamfone or Sea Girls before, so will for sure check them out
Modernloves song "Islands" is probably my favorite song of theirs. Sea Girls has this song called "Sleeping with you" and it will literally rip you apart. Bad Suns "Cardiac Arrest" Is a wicked banger too. Dreamfone has a great song called "talking to myself" ...its basically about being ghosted.
Matty Healy of the 1975: ‘If you’re still making art in your 30s you’re either wadded or good – and I’m both’ Surprised this hasn't been shared yet.
I love reading his interviews. His takes and ability to articulate them is fascinating. He's so unabashedly honest about how he sees the world and the current cultural zeitgeist. I may not agree with everything he spouts, but I respect and understand where he's coming from most of the time. Usually when I've seen him "cancelled" on Twitter it was the result of a lack of understanding of who he is. I wish people would understand that him following Andrew Taint or Kyle Rittenhouse are not endorsements but rather the fact that he enjoys observing culture in all forms.
also the outro lines of part of the band really speak to me on a personal level Am I ironically woke? The butt of my joke? Or am I just some post-coke, average, skinny bloke Calling his ego imagination? I've not picked up that in a thousand four hundred days And nine hours and sixteen minutes, babe It's kind of my daily iteration for some reason my mind instantly juxtaposes that with "Paris," I said "I'm done, babe. I'm out of the scene" But I was picking up on Bethnal Green She said I've been romanticizing heroin i think that right there shows a clear evolution and growth in his character and how much more honesty he has now in recovery, a quality that just flat out disappears when you're caught up in an addiction, believe me, and that is why this man's writing still hits me straight in the gut. he gets it. he knows what ive been through. it feels like hes speaking directly to me and giving me advice. i just really relate to his perspective.
That's not bad honestly, better than expected. I also surprisingly enjoyed the lead single from his new album so I might check the whole thing out soon.
This is the song I was referring to, I heard it on the radio without knowing who it was and got big My Chem meets Billy Idol vibes
That's actually what put me more towards trying the whole album, when I saw he worked on a track too. Do you like it overall?
It’s not bad. Not in love with it though. “It’s another album with a clear inspiration from the early years of pop-punk wrapped in the online teenage culture of today’s aesthetic. I enjoyed a few of the songs in a similar way that I did the new Blackbear, they’re catchy, and they play within a space I’m familiar with and enjoy, but they don’t hit me at an emotional level.”
Makes sense, this is the vibe I've had from him overall so I'll probably agree, I'll check it out soon.
I really liked two songs from his last album and feel like he has potential to put out something I'd really like but always seems to make choices that don't work for me for the most part.
I actually saw Yungblud do an instore earlier this week. He was a great performer and engages with his fans in a really wholesome way. These are my faves from his new album if anyone wants a place to get into it.
