Totally forgot about Robbers. Ok, all their videos that aren't Robbers include choreographed dancing.
The song and video are top tier. also I am loving that falsetto “you” layer heading into that last chorus
The 75 are like the kings of having a pop song loop but then adding all these little sonic flourishes and one-off vocal bits that makes each repeated line sound new. this track and happiness take this thing they do and then they do it even more than ever. the most 1975 the 1975 has ever been
Hah - that's why I started not listening to the singles of their albums, honestly, and I'm glad I did especially with Notes, because I just don't find their instrumentals all that interesting, and I feared that the non-singles would be a majority of those. I've come around on most of them, to be fair. I like How to Draw a lot more now, but Notes has some skips for this reason.
I don’t know if they are outdoing themselves per se - it’s just a slightly different flavor. Def more organic and simplified as they’ve alluded do. It works for sure but I bet these tunes would also sound fantastic all jazzed up from the ILY era. It’s like 1975 meets Tom Petty instead of the 1975 meets Peter Gabriel.
god damn this song is so phenomenal. all three singles are already in my top 20 1975 songs of al time lol. this albums gonna rip, i love knowing its only 11 tracks, if the rest of the album maintains this quality its going to be an all time classic. all killer no filler baby.
Incredible that they’ve truly made these songs feel sincere, and taken the approach of being more organic make these really pop off. Feels like they’re in the room with us performing the songs. Loving everything about this It’s been a really rough day at work so this is giving me a little boost
I def like this song but I might need to sit with it a bit before I know how I feel about it 100%, it’s a homerun as far as hooks and production, and along with Happiness really seems to be driving home the “classic” 1975 vibes, but the chorus feels maybe a bit too slight for me on first brush? idk. I have definitely still really enjoyed all the singles so far but nothing yet has resonated with me as much as most of Notes did. also the “you show me your black girl thing” line feels very odd to me and it would be nice to get some clarity on it. this has definitely been my favorite part of this batch of songs, at least so far. it’s a subtle difference but it suits the songs/band very well.
