Also, I Couldn’t Be More in Love is absolutely gut-wrenching, especially considering the context of Mattys performance on it
A Brief Inquiry is my personal fav by a pretty large margin. It leaked on my 30th birthday, and while there are elements of it I don’t relate to, the general vibe and certain moments really did it for me. Love “Sincerity is Scary,” “Love It If We Made It,” and “How to Draw” so much, and used to like that closer a bit too much.
"Give Yourself a Try" is basically the Strokes' "Hard to Explain" meets Joy Division's "Disorder" w some of the best lyrics Matty has ever written so yeah it's one of the best songs ever imho
“Me” is just an all time great song. They’ve got about twenty of those but I’m listening to “Me” right now.
I think if I have to choose one favorite song by them it's It's Not Living. That song has one of the best choruses I've ever heard
The fact that Roadkill, Sincerity Is Scary, and Too Shy are all the same band is wild to me. No idea what direction they’re going to take on this next release, but I’m down with any genre. Idk where’d they’d even go if they tried something brand new.
I just can’t see them locking into a single sound for a project. I think their creativity works in a way that wouldn’t allow them to do it.
in 2017 I had a lot of loss and this song just....got me. "I'm sorry but I'd rather be getting high than watching my family die" still fucking hits so hard. I remember being stoned out of my mind at my grandmas funeral when I had to get up in front of everyone and not totally fucking break down.
Can confirm ABIIOR is still a chills fest for me Edit: I'm firmly in the Be My Mistake hater camp. I think the album would be a lot stronger without it!
Listened to the EPs for the first time all the way through last not. Not sure why I hadn't before. For such a vocal-forward band, it's really interesting to hear them so stripped back/low in the mix on many of the songs. Kinda refreshing though that they don't always go for the big obvious chorus.
Beyond proud of you and also a survivor of addiction. Chronic alcohol but the end and last four years was opiates. 30 tramadol’s a day a came off of during last and hoping final inpatient treatment. I started my first NA group 9 years ago and now have three. The hardest is always the night time. Time and creating a new eco-system of goodness, who I hang out with, even where I work, and having a purpose, serving others and staying busy. The longer and more time the depression and anxiety subsided because of the hard work and the good news you can get there also. I believe this is the drummer of Head North.
The PopSocket on my phone is the cover of the Sex EP and the circular socket itself is the white vinyl. GF got it for me as a gift. It's my favorite of the EP's.
Wow completely forgot they played it on that tour. Thank god for the barrier kid who capture this piece of history.
