MSG was a nightmare but SF GA tickets were super easy to get an hour later, at a much smaller venue. I don’t get it.
Muna seems a little too big to not advertise as support on the front end, but I could be mistaken for sure
Got 2 floor tickets for Boston. Got nervous because the first time I tried to check out it said they were gone, but 5 minutes later more floor seats appeared and I got them the second time. First time seeing them, so stoked
Honestly excited that Boston is only day 2 of the tour, maybe for once I will go in without reading the setlist ahead of time
The 1975’s Matty Healy Turns On, Tunes In, and Logs Off really good profile that that taylor swift line is from
Yeah that’s a good piece tbh, Happiness is growing on me daily as I continue to listen to all their old albums as well
goddamn Talking about his songwriting on Being Funny in relation to his dwindling online presence, Healy says, “I’ve thought about every single word on this album for two years; I’d think about a tweet for 20 seconds. My album’s gonna go out to, what, 10 million people, but a tweet could go out to a billion. The maths doesn’t work out. I’ll die on the hill of my records, but I won’t die on the hill of my tweets. It’s better to say good things less than to say average things more.”
lmao Jesus “And my plug in Japan died during COVID. Rest in peace to, um, he was just in my phone as ‘Fat Japan Dealer,’ but he was a good guy.”
This paragraph from that Pitchfork article has me so amped: Being Funny spends a good chunk of its runtime zeroing in on the style that marks a lot of the group’s biggest hits thus far: 1980s pop-rock shiny enough to soundtrack a Breakfast Club reboot, replete with wailing saxes, towering drums, and hooks as sticky as hair gel. Think Peter Gabriel’s So. Think Fine Young Cannibals’ “She Drives Me Crazy.” Think Rick freaking Astley. Think, well, the 1975: Several tracks sound like wiser and more naturalistic versions of the guitar-scratching funk found on their second album, I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it.
“People may think that it’s ‘uncool’ to work with the biggest producer in the world — I don’t give a fuck,” Healy said about enlisting Antonoff’s services. “I wanna make a great fucking record. “Jack doesn’t get enlisted by a lot of the best artists because he’s some go-to guy — Jack’s good.”
I am very excited for this record, especially after that writeup. I think both singles have been great and I really like the idea of a more concise 1975 record. I am also just really ready to be obsessed with them again; it’s been a minute since I’ve gone on a true 1975 kick.
