Has there been a lead 1975 single since Love Me that didn’t divide the fan base?

Man, I remember the first time “Love Me” dropped and it was a real “oh shit these boys leveled up” moment.

I’ve heard the song once and probably will stay that way until the album drops. I liked what I heard though

Might be the first time I'm super into a band and try to restrain myself from listening to the single a bunch and actively not listen. I think the fact that their last two albums were so expansive, might be fun to hold off on the single (or try to) and have my first listen be mostly new, especially if this record is truly like how I think it will be

Always hard to go in as blind as possible with 1975 records because the long rollouts get me so impatient. Will for sure take advantage of the shorter rollout this time and just sleep on future singles

 

"Give Yourself A Try" will forever be their best lead single. Should've been the anthem of a generation, though I get why "Love It If We Made It" ended up getting that designation off ABIIOR.

When that one came out it immediately became one of my favorite 1975 songs and it still is.

 

Every single one of their lead singles has made me go “huh?” and then I like it a lot about 24 hours later.

I love it because “Disorder” is legit one of the 10 greatest songs ever.

 

I’m old enough to remember this website melting down because the lead guitar riff was “too loud”

Ok I’ve spent some time with the new track and have listened to it on my sound bar with the sub. My consensus is it’s very good. There’s also a lot more going on than I originally thought.

 

I've played the single more times than I'd like to admit. Had $5 UO rewards, so I got black galaxy vinyl.

 

I’m super excited for this record. I would love to hear more of the midwest-emo-type stuff they dabbled in on Notes.

 

Highly recommend everyone check out 'Pictures of Us' on the new Beabadoobee album. Co-written by Matty and was originally for DLID. Midwest emo sound.

 

Yeah, it’s great. Bea and Matty work really well together - would love to see her on some 1975 stuff.

 

I’m checking out Porter Robinson’s album from last year and if you like The 1975, check him out. A little more electronic though

 

Honestly think it’s one of their best first singles, feels like it’s going to click significantly
