Yeah I love all four a ton so any ranking is technically understandable and I'd agree with the first three but putting ILIWYS last is a bit of a head scratcher.
I think all the instrumental tracks are pretty terrible and bring the album down a LOT. The last run of ballads also never grabbed me, I know a lot of people lose their shit over them, but they are a slog for me to get through. Has plenty of my favorite songs, but as a complete album it doesn't do it for me.
Notes and the debut have the only nonessential instrumental tracks. My 1975 hot take is that I don't really like any of their closers. Always Wanna Die is my fav, but I don't love it
I'm not the biggest fan honestly. Always Wanna Die and Guys are fine but two of the weakest on their respective albums, maybe my least favourites actually. Is There Somebody Who Can Watch You is probably my least favourite on the debut too. She Lays Down is fantastic though and three of the EP's close with top 10 1975 songs.
Best part of IAWD is the second verse is like 10 seconds a and they’re like eh fuck it we know what the people want and go right back into the chorus
I still only listen to the first 4 EPs and the first album. Sometimes a "newer" song I like will pop up if I have a playlist on shuffle or something, but yeah... the last couple albums didn't do anything for me aside from a couple jams.
Me and Fallingforyou are two of this band’s absolute best and are easily my top two favorite songs from them
funny, this is sorta similar to how I feel about ABIIOR lol, not that I dislike the instrumentals but that the album really feels like a slog in the back half
maybe I'm too soft but I actually struggle to rank their discography... if I was being honest I'd say ST = ABBIOR > ILIWYS ≥ NOACF
