I don’t know if comparing things to Bon Iver is lazy, but I certainly got those vibes listening to this, too. Regardless, also definitely sounds like a natural outgrowth of The 1975 sound. I dig it.
I liked a few songs on the first Bleachers album, then only one of the second one so I never bothered to check out anything else
Bleachers shows are some of the best out there. This song is pretty good. Glad to have the band back.
I saw them do a free show a few years ago and I agree it was a blast, even though I didn’t know 90% of the songs.
I'd highly suggest listening to the last Bleachers album on anything other than Spotify, i.e. Tidal or Qobuz, on a decent pair of headphones or IEMs. There's of lot subtlety that I'm certain most people are missing out on.
I thought Bon Iver the whole time before checking any comments lol, I see I’m not alone. Doesn’t really matter to me because the acoustic parts in the second half of the song provide variety and I kind of prefer this delivery when the lyrics are like this lol
Been a casual fan since 2018 ish. Never dove far into their discography, but this new album rollout made me go through some old singles and I'm really liking what I'm hearing so far.
you're all hearing Bleachers and Bon Iver and i'm more hearing Burn The Witch by Radiohead with those plucked strings
Killer first single, and the video is amazing too, feel like that's not getting enough attention I just love how I never have any clue what the next song these guys release is gonna sound like, even within the same album
I didn't hear Bleachers on first listen either, but now I think it's in how the vocals are mixed/layered/filtered. edit: Similarly, the Bon Iver vibes come from the way he's delivering certain lines I think.
I think the song sounds like Bon Iver because it sounds literally like “Skinny Love” and “Strafford APTS”
I find the track to be stunning. This will be the perfect soundtrack for the fall. Really love this band.
