this is my favorite band and it feels weird to work in hypotheticals, a single straight-ahead (for them) upbeat rock song within this sound would be an easy top five 1975 song for me.
he must actually be an incredible collaborator. everyone who works with him says it in interviews but it must be true.
Didn’t Matty and Taylor have a relationship in early early 1975 days? I don’t necessarily mean they dated, but I was under the impression they at least knew each other.
I think all it was, was that she attended one of their shows or something and maybe met the band backstage after and that was it
it was rumored heavily but amounted to v little there was also speculation that “she’s american” was about taylor, it’s better to not care tho
Finally able to comment: wow, stunning song. Production and songwriting is some of their most dense and accomplished imo, as the orchestral/folk/sax/flute/etc are all doing really diffferent things, and the start stop between the chorus/verse/bridge shouldn’t work, but does I want to hear the stems for this so badly lol
Jack Antonoff has ruined nearly every project he's been a part of, splashing white guy guitars, tinny drums, and excessive vocal harmonies into everything until it's just a shitty Bon Iver rip off. He did it to Clairo, he did it to Lorde, he did it to Taylor. I hate that man's work with a passion. This is song is pretty good though.
Yeah and tbh, I don’t really care much for this song either, after a few listens, but I’m completely confident I’ll love the album as a whole when it’s released
There was one interview I think where it was heavily hinted that they made out back stage. But it was based in rumors. Pretty sure "She's American" is just about all the American women that wanted to date the idea of Matty the British rock star.
Anyone else not get an order confirmation? My card was charged, but no email. Page refreshed when I went back to it so I didn’t capture the order # if it was shown. edit: nvm. A hold was put on my card for the amount, but you have to confirm the order on Dirty Hit’s site once more even after PayPal does it’s thing?
I mean he was a part of Melodrama and Norman Fucking Rockwell, two of the best albums of the 2010s, sooo I would not say he’s ruined everything he has been a part of. Plus his work with Taylor is way more hit than miss IMHO. I do agree with you about him working with Clairo though
I'm gonna be honest, I didn't know he was involved with Melodrama, and I actually liked that album. I think I respect him slightly more. (Also, his work with Bleachers is fine.)
