Unrelated note, I really should change my alarm from spotify. It's Morning Song by Anthony Green and that prevented the double whammy of the 1975 getting top song and artist (I'm in love with you was #2). It's kind of embarrassing that 2 years in a row, a kids song has my been #1 but I actually love waking up to it now, even though it was just meant to be annoying and ironic at first.

If no one has used the DJ on spotify before, DJ: wrapped may be a good time to start. Goes deep into your listening habits throughout the year.

Other people said I was acting like I wanted a medal or I was saying 'woe is me, I'm persecuted', but I was more making fun of people on the extreme end, who think Matty is the worst person ever, and if you're still a fan you're a big ole piece of shit with a fucked up worldview.

It's been beaten to death in here, and I thought it was clear that nearly everyone who was still a fan agreed he's an immature bellend who should probably think before he speaks more often, but that on the grand scheme of celebrity behaviors, he's not nearly as bad as some media sites and some communities on reddit (that were the real target of my joke), make him out to be.

I absolutely don’t think he needs to be crucified like a lot of people act and I’ve made that very clear throughout this thread. But he definitely needs to be held accountable for the hurtful shit he can’t stop saying and it shouldn’t be minimized even if we still love the band. If that wasn’t your intent then yeah this was a misunderstanding. So yeah, all is good

This got me thinking: it’d be funny if Spotify/apple could develop an algorithm that catches your “guilty pleasure” artist and threatens to share them on social media.

I have nothing but thieves at #2 as their new album is banger after banger, but I now know they are absolutely HATED around here. I wasn't aware of any of the allegations until recently (nor are apparently the 6 million monthly listeners). I have cooled off on them and replaced them with Dead Poet Society the last 3 months which pushed DPS up to #4. Still not sure of the legitimacy / severity of what NBT did but I probably need to know to decide if they are a band I want to keep spinning or not.

 

Five years of ABIIOR today.

The timing finally makes sense as to why I decided to actually dive into the band. This album just came out, I was coming home from a trip and hearing about the album while being casually aware of the band because of friends but writing them off because I was *that guy* at the time. Spent the whole flight listening to each album and having it totally click.

 

I was an ILIWYS guy for a long time, but I think I’ve settled on ABIIOR being their best

 

I think BFIAFL can possibly top it but can’t say that after a year.

ABIIOR is probably the most cohesive of the albums.

 

ABIIOR felt like a definitive statement of the time period it came out.

 

I miss the rock edge of ABIIOR - it also benefits from having not only 1, but 3 of the best rock songs in the last 10 years
