Not quite sure what Tash Sultana is trying to say on their new track 1975. Im guessing its a diss but im being dense about the lyrics. Anyone else get what theyre trying to say? Just a name drop to cash in on their populariry (even of the infamous variety)? EDIT: pronouns
Never heard of them but this song is really good though damn, Anyways, my take on the lyrics are that its about someone who listens and identifies with The 1975's like "apocalyptic take on youth" that matty talks about but isn't living the life of that freedom and reckless abandon is getting stuck on the fantasy of it, or surface level/materialism instead.
Saw a production breakdown of this song yesterday actually. Fun song, and interesting to see how they tried to give as many nods to the 1975 production-wise, without plagiarizing.
Also, don't forget 8.30pm UK time they are going to be live streamed by the BBC performing their debut album at Reading (proxies at the ready I'm guessing for most of you). 1.30pm PDT I think
I haven’t really been paying attention lately. Is there any word that they might be doing the full debut on the US tour?
They did the whole album apart from Is There Somebody Who Can Watch You, a shame as I’d really have liked to see them play that
