Monthly listens on Spotify seem to be the best metric for how popular a band is currently, at least for me. Seems fairly accurate when ranking the bands I listen to.
That’s not really how engagement works on social media, particularly Twitter. That’s 12 likes for every 1k views, which is decent. The band are huge. Not Coldplay huge though, if that’s what you were thinking..
They’re big but they haven’t like, fully broke in America the way say Dua Lipa has or Coldplay did all those years ago. That doesn’t mean they aren’t popular though, and as mentioned above they sell more tickets than a lot of artists talked about on here. I think they’re similar in popularity to Charli XCX in the states, or maybe a smidge more popular.
They’re one of the biggest bands going. The problem is there aren’t very many mainstream bands anymore.
According to the About section on Spotify the band is currently the 409th biggest artist worldwide - I’d say they’re pretty big.
They’re playing Wells Fargo huh? I saw Radiohead there back in 2018. Pretty sick opportunity for The 1975
I don’t consider this the case, actually. There are festival and other flyover dates around it. This tour seems likely to be fall/winter. They just won’t be able to announce it until after, of course.
Most fests have some kind of radius clause, and black out dates so I would assume that a) yes or b) the non-fest chicago date would have to be pretty out from lolla.
Nice, finally some real information. I'm with the multiple people here who are hoping for red rocks. If not, I'll be accepting compelling arguments on why your city is the one to visit to see them. The ATL date is a festival date that I can't make so I'll be picking somewhere to make a weekend out of.
Guess I could always go to Red Rocks twice in a year. But I’m expecting this to be late September or even October/November. A Chicago date can be announced after the performance but Lolla doesn’t hold acts back from returning sooner anymore.
