The 1975 commit to playing only gender-balanced music festivals | The 1975 | The Guardian Was this just performative bullshit from Matty?
Noticed all the fests they were booked on this summer and I remember him getting lauded for making this statement back in 2020. So just more bullshit? Or is this just part of the schtick too?
Matty annoys me at times but Jesus Christ there are actual pieces of shit still making music and performing. Focus attention on them.
I don't usually comment on shit like this but it actually is super weird how fucking bad some people on the internet want Matty to be problematic, I've never seen anything like it Granted he leans into it but still
I think it's admirable that Matty made that comment about gender balanced festivals because most of them are very...not gender balanced at all but at the end of the day he and his band are only one person and cannot effectively do much change in regards to fixing festival lineups. I feel like instead of just calling out Matty you could just...help combat this issue and actually show you care than bitching about someone not completely following up on their word. I'm not going to yell at Matty for that, I'm going to yell at festival organizers (who should get the blame) for not making enough effort to book gender diverse lineups.
I don't think its weird if you've ever followed his socials.. There's a reason its mostly unique to him and not other people.
Yep, just very odd that people are up in arms over Matty instead of the larger issue at hand. Also, do people think the band just...doesn't have a booking agent? Do people actually think Matty or other musicians sit around like us twiddling our thumbs on our phones looking at festival lineups and looking up info on every participating band/artist?
it would be different if he was actually problematic in any way and not just slightly annoying and bone headed
Gave Notes a full listen tonight for no particular reason. Fuck, do I still love this album, even if it’s all over the place.
