There were like 5 times during the show I was like “this is their best song…..wait no THIS is their best song…hold up…” lol
I went twice (night one boston and nyc) and i think the main differences were TooTime, A Change Of Heart, Me and You Together Song, Be My Mistake, and Steak.
Got choked up and almost cried multiple times at the show last night. I think it was my 9th or 10th time seeing them and I still get emotional every time. Such a great night
Show last night was excellent. I definitely preferred the second half of more straightforward playing and crowd work, but it was great to hear so much of the new record and the first half left me thinking a lot afterwards about the nature of touring as a repeated musical performance on stage. The rooftop performance of "I Like America" was awesome and unexpected, as was Matty's "exit" before the second half. Funniest moment was probably during the second half when Matty finally acknowledged the crowd... something like, "You know, I saw you guys earlier. I was pretending before."
boyfriend and I had a wicked The 1975 hangover for like 2 days after the show, and we didn't even drink. we did however move to the empty section near us to smoke a joint during the second half of the show.
Damn, I peaked at the setlist (since it seems to change a little anyway) and 26 songs is crazy long. I don't think I've been to a show where a single band played that long. I'm bringing along a buddy who knows nothing, so I hope he likes them haha. The only personal favorite of mine that's missing is If I believe you but I didn't really expect that one anyway. EDIT: Also at the other end of the spectrum since it's an upbeat one, I wish settle down was on there. Can't get enough of the noodly riff on that song.
listened to the full album. about three tracks i enjoyed, a few that weren't offensive or bad or anything but didn't do much for me, and a lot i kinda just trudged through. overall though the three i liked i really, really liked and made me check out a few songs off their other albums
Like other albums that sound like AFUH? I honestly am not sure. I generally kind of despise the current post-punk thing going on.
It makes sense as Matty referenced it lyrically way back when to start Sex but boy does the piano on this version of The 1975 sound like All My Friends. What goddamn songwriting too.
they’ve played it the other three times out of four I’ve seen them, only time they didn’t was right before ILIWYS
