Yeah Kill Em > Ride the Lightning > Master > & Justice is a great run he’s not a metal kid though haha
when you split the record up like this it really comes across as side a being a daytime record and side b being the nighttime record.
Listening to Notes now and I can understand how this was a lot to chew for some people. However, I love sprawling albums filled with all sorts of strange directions so I appreciate it. The ambient/electronic stuff is actually sometimes the most enjoyable.
For the longest time Notes was fun when I was in the mood for the full journey but I had a hard time picking out favorite moments.
I mean, it’s not surprising he thinks that. I think most artists should believe their more recent albums are better than their older output.
This is their best record since ILIWYS. Focus, cohesion, and a distinct lack of bloat compared to NOACF and ABIIOR, with all of their best attributes on display.
I don’t find A Brief Inquiry to be bloated at all, honestly. I think it’s cohesive and flows very well
To each their own! The highs are very high but it's very rarely an album I am going to listen to from to back. BFIAFL is another story in that regard.
