Before I knew Jack was involved in this (learned that when I opened this thread) I thought “Oh cool they lifted some tricks from Jack Antonoff”. It’s the way some of the instruments are produced and mixed. He has a very distinctive type of off-kilter sonic thing he favors
Honestly didn’t even think of Jack at all during my first listen, despite knowing this thread was talking about him on this album
Human Too really growing on me with subsequent listens, so many layers/textures/flourishes that really bring out their best, really great performance from matty
just picked up the only copy my local Target had on vinyl (unfortunately our local record store closed down a couple months ago). sounds fantastic over my setup.
I think the lyrics are phenomenal and extremely touching. They’re hitting me quite deep. The themes of coming out of a drug addiction, falling in and out of love, societal woes and just trying to exist in this world as someone who used to do hard drugs and built an image around that but no longer uses is prettttty much what my entire life is about
I think I'm almost at the point where I love every song except Part of the Band and Human Too Looking for Somebody is such a jam.
I gotta say I’m not in love with About You. It’s good, but the songs hugging it and Human Too are better
John's obsessed with fat ass and he's ten years old the fearlessness he approaches this album with inspires me as it should any artist who hears it
baffling maybe give it more listens? I promise you it's better than you might think but then again someone might say that about a song I'm not as into and be completely right I just feel it might be a grower, for some at least. as for me, it was very immediate
It’s good. I just think the sound they hit on Wintering and When We Are Together is more novel/they hit it in a better way. I’ve heard their About You/Human Too before
