The 1975 - A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships (November 30, 2018) Album • Page 319

Discussion in 'Music Forum' started by Matt Chylak, Mar 2, 2017.

  1. I feel like Radiohead's become a catch-all descriptor for so many things now. And I say that as someone that compared the new Copeland to them. Heh. But when I say it it's usually about a wide mixture of sounds, layers, and many of those being different from a tonal perspective than what you'd expect. Doing something weird while still keeping an accessible melody.

Yeah, I think that's on point. The difference for me that these reviewers aren't catching (though what do I know, I've only heard a third of the album) is that to call something Radiohead-esque, there should also be an expansiveness to the sound within each song. The last Radiohead album feels like you're looking out over a cliff a number of different vistas. I consider The 1975's music to date more "broad" in genre than "expansive" and genre-less; their songs (with the exception of the title track on the last album) are more like perfect miniatures than open canvases.

    It’s quite a lot ridiculous.

I mean, it’s the internet. Does an online-only publication even have a country? Isn’t that the whole theme of this album?

If you put a Union Flag in the banner do you think you’d be able to post it?

  4. Yeah, it's not how I would do it. But, not my call. I can only respond to questions about the album with emoji. :blank:

I just errantly thought “What’s my favorite 1975 song” and that sent me into a downward spiral that might have broken my brain.

The sheer depth of available choices was overwhelming.

It’s on appley music as well.

It’s the bonus track in Japan isn’t it? I was expecting a new recording but this is just the one that’s been around for years.

There’s no songs I hate from the band, but I would say my least favorites are MONEY and Talk.
