Yeah Helios is a band they put on a playlist of songs on spotify. It makes sense since they like a lot of ambient/post rock music.

I'm really hoping for more hip hop influence like "M.O.N.E.Y", "Menswear", "Loving Someone", and the bridge to "Somebody Else".

    Ambient would be cool too.

Although I doubt the album will be centered to one sound. I'm sure it will have just as many different influences and sounds as ILWYS

Matty just shared a story on Instagram with a revised version of "HNSCC" from the Music for Cars EP. The main difference being a new layer of piano.

I wish I knew how to capture Instagram stories.

    Update: Here it is

"Over the Hillside" has some "Me" vibes, and the influences of "The Downtown Lights" and "Headlights on the Parade" show pretty clearly. My favorite thing about the band is combining those 80s influences with the hip-hop/90s R&B and ambient/electronic elements. "Undo" sounds halfway between a The Blue Nile song and a Boyz II Men song. "She's American" is straight 80s pop until the bridge all of a sudden sounds like the Backstreet Boys (in a really, really great way). Hope there's lots of that mish-mash of styles on the next album.

God damn, I can't tell if I like the new pale waves song because it sounds so much like New the 1975 or because it's genuinely a good song. I hate to say that

Man the only thing the pale waves song does that the 1975 haven't done as effectively yet is the drop from the first chorus to the second verse

It's alright, like. Sounds so similar to "There's A Honey" though so I'd be excited to hear more material soon.

I can't listen to bands like that. It's not to knock their desire to be artists/musicians, but when your whole act is derived from another band it's not flattering to me. Comes off gimmicky and as if they're trying to ride the coat tails. The argument "Matty directed the video" does nothing to sway my opinion, just makes it seem weirder tbh.

Yeah they just...don't excite me too much. I like the melodies, or rather melody, they have and do very well but they don't make me wanna jump at buying live tickets which is a sign of how excited I am by an artist or band.

I like Television Romance a lot and I think they have potential, I just hope they add in a few more influences to dilute The 1975 vibes a bit and get more diverse when it comes to making an album.

Yeah, I'm surprised the label was cool with such a similar-sounding second song. Dirty Hit generally does a better job rolling out a new act's aesthetic in a way that feels comprehensive. As much as I enjoy "There's A Honey", this second track makes them feel like a one tricky pony. Still excited for a fuller release, but not a good hype-builder.

I think Teenage Romance is a much, much better song than There's A Honey...but agreed...they need to branch out more.

Like the band is even trying to move and dress like the guys in the 1975. It's serious overkill. Super talented though.

I think it more the whole "I'm pretending to not care but I really do care" vibe they're trying to give off that's too similar to the 1975...as well as the music (which is understandable since they are produced by George and Matty)

I don’t think they are directly ripping the 1975 as much as they are directly ripping from a lot of 80’s bands that the 1975 also take a lot of influence from.

I mean Heather and Matty clearly take a lot of fashion and musical influence from Robert Smith.

Idk, they sound more like they're ripping from The 1975 to me. Imagewise I definitely see The Cure but not musically.
