I mean... "too time" should probably be the mistake you're calling out.

Excited to hear the new song next week! To be honest with you guys, I don't like the lyrics very much. I very much love crazy/out there lyrics, so I've loved Give Yourself A Try and LIIWMI a lot. With this song, the lyrics seem very general and boring, much like a typical pop mainstream song of today. But hopefully the music aspect will be awesome. I also hope there's a deeper meaning to the song than just too-timing a woman - there's too many songs out about love/breaking up, etc. Sooooo many pop artists today - "I love you, you love me, we shall be, hap hap py!" It's as if artists write music for Barney episodes nowadays, smh. I listen to the band Chevelle a lot; and the singer was in an interview once and said "I don't write about love, that's too easy. One of our songs is about taking the trash outside at night and seeing a demon across the street. We have another song where the lyrics are about us (the band members) walking through the crowd at one of their shows, but we are imagining the crowd as like, a bunch of zombies trying to get us since teenage girls will like run at artists wanting a hug/picture. And we have a song about our first house as a band together, and how we thought it was haunted." Sorry this is a rant and not a Chevelle thread, just putting my thoughts out there. I'm sure the new song won't be generic and will kick ass :)

Pop music - love songs are as similar as rap music - songs about drugs/women with big asses

Yeah, I couldn't find a better picture either. But I found this on the NME website:

    You wet my eyes
    But I don’t mind it
    I tell you lies
    But it’s only sometimes
    You pick a fight
    And I’ll define it

I swear that I only called her one time
    Maybe it was two times?
I don’t think it was three times
It can’t be more than four times
I think we need to rewind
    You text that boy sometimes!
Must be more than three times!
I didn’t mean to too time you

She said that I should of liked it
    I told her
    ‘I only use it sometimes’
    Except when I need reminding
    I’m petrified

I swear that I only called her one time
    Maybe it was two times?

I don’t think it was three times
It can’t be more than four times
I think we need to rewind
    You text that boy sometimes!
Must be more than three times!
I didn’t mean to too time you

To me, it depends on the context. The 1975's song It's Not Living (If It's Not With You) - good song about drugs. We only know about 2 lines of the lyrics for that song, but I'm sure it will be good lyric-wise based on what we know. Songs from like Future and other mumble rappers today - "doin' molly and percs cause I'm cool, got bandz bandz bandz, got diamonds diamonds diamonds, she shake her ass ass ass" = bad song about drugs.

This is why shitty artists are able to become famous. No one sees a problem with writing 3rd grade lyrics as long as the beat is good, smh. Lyrics are just as important as the music. I will be quiet now though because none of you agree with me and seem to be annoyed by my opinions.

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

We're not annoyed by your opinions.

We're baffled that you're boiling down an entire genre to "booty booty ass shake" or "love baby". Just because a band like Chevelle writes about "the crowd being zombies" or something doesn't mean that its good because its a "different" topic. There's a level of context that you might be missing when reading a lot of these lyrics (especially Future)

And its cool to not like it, that's the opinion part that's fine! It's making it seem like you're elitist compared to everyone because you personally think the lyrics are meaningless, and we're dumb for enjoying it.
