So there's a bit of history to this question! Simple answer: Notes on a Conditional Form - name of the album, the 1975 album #4 Music for Cars - the name of the era for the band that encompasses both A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships and Notes on a Conditional Form Long answer: Music for Cars has a bit of significance for the band. Before they released their first album, The 1975, the band released a series of 4 EP to bridge to gap, and one of the EP names is Music for Cars, which in itself is a reference to Brian Eno's Music for series. In recent interviews, Matty Healy (the lead singer of the band) has stated that writing these EPs was the period of time in his life he felt happiest, when he was drive around in his car then write music with George. Prior to releasing ABIIOR, Matt stated that this era would be called MFC to signal back to these simpler days, as well as notify fans to expect a more free-form style of composition, similar to how the EPs were conceived. Originally, the band was going to call it quits after this "era", but obviously that's not true. Hopefully that clears it up!
this is awesome. i love the vibe that this has, feeling like it channels "How to Draw/Petrichor" and "I Like America..." but expands on it. great tune.
Guess I’m the only one who doesn’t like this one haha. Sounds like something I’d hear over the speakers at the supermarket. I’m sure the rest of the album grabs me more than this one
Love it! Question: am I the only one who hears “TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME” in the verses. It seems to me that the Melody is 75% the same up until the last line of each phrase. Am I crazy?
That was the first thing I thought when I heard this. It's a great melody. I know a few people who loathe TWOTIME and love this, so I'm glad this melody is getting love even from people who weren't into it the first time around.
