Misguided Ghosts Feeling Sorry Decode Brick By Boring Brick The latter match up was the toughest for me. I know Careful is a great opener but Brick By Boring Brick has always been a favourite from this album. Misguided Ghosts is one of my favourite songs here so that was a no brainer. The other two match ups are between just standard album songs - nothing that takes my breath away, although I quite like the vibe of Decode.
All I asked for was that Careful and Brick By Boring Brick not be paired together in the first round. Ugh! Misguided Ghosts Looking Up Decode Brick By Boring Brick
Where The Lines Overlap Looking Up Decode Brick By Boring Brick Every one of these was really tough. I love Misguided Ghosts but Where the Lines Overlap has always been a favorite of mine. There was a time when I would've definitely picked Careful, but the last couple years I've gravitated towards Brick By Boring Brick. I adore Playing God, I think it's so fun and I love the "next time you point a finger" line. But Decode is Decode, one of my favorite vocal performances by Hayley, so I gotta give it the nod. And I'm gonna give it to "Looking Up" because of the whole "I CANT BELIEVE WE ALMOST HUNG IT UP WOAH OH OH OHHH" part.
Misguided Ghosts Looking Up Playing God Careful (ooof either way a great song is getting knocked out early)
this round is gonna kill me it's like "oh one of my favorite songs of all time versus..... another one of my favorite songs of all time"
The best part about running a bracket is not having to vote for those brutal matchups (unless there's a tie). The worst part is not getting to vote.
Where the Lines Overlap (this was super tough, "Ghosts" is one of those songs I would always share with friends, put on mix cds, etc. but "Where the Lines Overlap" is top 5 dead or alive for me, it's everything I love about Paramore. Those backing vocals in the verses!!) Looking Up (these two always sort of seems like sibling songs to each other to me, mostly in their composition and where they fall in the tracklisting, I have to give it to "Looking Up" mostly for the coda at the end, one of the best moments in their discography) Playing God (Decode is easily the more "important" song for the band, I'm sure many, like @Mary V where introduced to them through this song, it's a total anthem. However, "Playing God" is my favorite Paramore song of all time. When I saw them two summers ago, I immediately burst into tears when Taylor started playing that opening riff. I wish they had more songs with countermelodies/ dueling vocals like in the bridge to this song. A total masterpiece in every sense for me. Brick By Boring Brick (these were close, but I think "Brick" is more iconic/anthemic/whatever you want to call it. Also totally slays live. The Fallon performance of this is ingrained in my mind from seeing it as a young 8th grader)
Hahaha me exactly. When I was typing out my thought process I just kept writing down well this is one of my favorites on the album. And then I realized oh they're actually all my favorites
Misguided Ghosts Looking Up Playing God Careful None of these choices were really that difficult, but I’ll say that Looking Up and Feeing Sorry are IMO the two weakest songs on this record though. Looking Up has the winning edge because of that end part. Misguided and Careful are two of my fav Paramore songs period though, having to eventually axe either one (or Turn It Off) stresses me right out
Misguided Ghosts. Total 50/50 for me. Gave the edge to MG for better lyrics. Feeling Sorry. Pretty easy choice for me. Decode. Love PG but it’s chorus was always subpar for me compared to the rest of the song. Careful. Tough call but this might be my favorite on the record. Love that this album seems to have brought out more peoples’ thoughts on individual songs!
I wouldn't say so. Depends on what kind of Paramore you like best. I like the more rock stuff so I am there with you.
-Misguided Ghosts -Feeling Sorry -Playing God -Brick by Boring Brick (wow, what is with this match up in the first round? Two heavy hitters that should be finalist)
Where The Lines Overlap Looking Up (this one really could have gone either way for me) Playing God (this one was also a bit more difficult than I was expecting) Brick By Boring Brick (another tough one...I don't like this round!)
